I'm glad Reggie mentions Mark Price. Mark ought to be asked to coach Georgia Tech. I think he would draw the great players in Georgia and keep them from leaving the state.
@TontoEpstein Жыл бұрын
Price has already shown he's not cut out to be a college coach. Not to mention can't hold on to any NBA assistant coaching gigs either. And why would kids care about Mark Price, let alone how would draw great Georgia players? All kids know about Mark Price if they ever met him would be that he's a short 60-years-old or so white guy. They'd probably think he's trying to sell them insurance.

A case can be made for Al but I don’t see it… now IF he adds a title to his resume, then maybe, at some point. But look at someone like Tom Chambers… 20000 career points, was All-NBA 2nd at his best, just great during those years even won ASG MVP, so on… and he’s not in the HoF! You got someone like Michael Cooper that didn’t make it yet… FIVE times NBA Champion as an important piece, DPOY, one of the best defensive players ever, one of the best 6th men ever! I mean… I don’t know about Iso Joe but I think LaMarcus has to make it at some point, yeah!… 20000 career points, 7x All-Star, 5x All-NBA… Some players also make it due to peak talent shown or even adding potential to that (helped a lot when it comes to Ralph Sampson for example)… You can even talk about impact and influence on the game, and iconic status….. So, maybe someone like Blake can make it too… great in college, 6x All-Star, 5x All-NBA, 3rd in MVP voting at some point, great at his best, and has the iconic dunks… and to a lesser extent Shawn Kemp can be talked about too, maybe. Brad Daugherty had unbelievable talent but he couldn’t really stay healthy so… And yeah, Mark Price would be a beast in today’s game! Derrick Rose DEFINITELY has to make the Hall of Fame! MVP, ROY, 3x All-Star, 2x FIBA World Cup winner, nice in college, despite injuries still managed to have some longevity……

Man, Al Horford. I think he is a Hall of Famer. 2 Collegiate championship rings. He is STILL playing a significant role on a championship contending team at the age of 36. He has been to the playoffs so many times. Unfortunately for him, he had Lebron in his prime to go against every year. The year in OKC he really just took a back seat because the organization wanted to play the younger players. Let's not forget the model citizen and professionalism he has shown for 15 years. It's not like he is some old vet at the end of the bench. We are talking about a 15+ year career as an All Star or starter. Let the man at least get in the basement HOF. Lol

If it includes college performance, then Christian Laetner should be in the HOF. Check his resume. He's only on the Dream Team cause he was BY FAR the best college player and our Olympic team was college before 1992. And he represented the USA worldwide his previous 3 offseasons.

Of course, Reggie is going to stick up for the player. But getting that ball is a ref's job, not the Jokers. The way I saw it, the Joker left the confines of the court and escalated the situation. Did it warrant a suspension? No, but even he knows he shouldnt have done that.
@DSerrador Жыл бұрын
Christian Laettner, he was one of the biggest "what ifs" in my opinion. He had all the characteristics Reggie mentions: physicality, vision of the game, he could shoot, he could pass, he was big, he could handle the ball, he had the attitude, he was a leader in college, one of the best college players in history but .... he didn't make it. I don't know why.

It has become apparent during the season and confirmed in the playoffs that the Warriors had a very poor bench. In addition, klay Thompson has never been able to be the player he was prior his injury. He is still a good player and it is with regret that I make that observation but it does make it even more important that the Warriors have at least one other player who can consistently provide 18-22 points. No one in LA is whining about Pelinka now and that is despite Beasley underperforming. I also do not fault Pelinka for the RW debacle as that rests with LBJ. Nice to hear them discuss Mark Price. I do agree with Reggie on most of the HOF comments other than Derek Rose ( just too limited because it is not based on "what could have been" )

I’m not sure why people don’t realize that it’s naturally easier to get into the basketball HOF because it accounts for college career as well.. Football has a college and professional HOF. Making the Pro football HOF is obviously going to be tougher because it considers only your professional career, not college.
@Riles3152 Жыл бұрын
@@ramonnewell9312 Yeah but the fact that you have guys getting into the Hall of Fame that weren’t even great players at the HIGHEST level should indicate that the overall standard is not as high as it should be. They might as well call it the Hall of Fame and the Hall of very good.
@ramonnewell9312 Жыл бұрын
@@Riles3152 it’s not that the standard isn’t as high, it’s just a different standard.. It’s apples to oranges; they shouldn’t be compared. One is called the “*PRO football HOF” while the other is called the “*Naismith basketball HOF” The basketball HOF is not just about recognizing the best players ever, it’s about recognizing the people who have had tremendous impact on the game.

I watch highlights of college players and ask myself, what if he did this against elite NBA players? For ex, I remember watching Jalen Suggs college highlights. He's slashing, scoring, and dropping dimes at will... But I remember thinking, "These assists are terrible passes. Against an average NBA defender that pass would get stolen. Marcus Smart will steal that 99% of time. And his scoring? His shot has way too much extra movement, and he puts his head down and pushes smaller guards under the basket. That's about it. He doesn't blow past them and finish with touch over shot-blockers." Look what he struggles with in Orlando... Scoring efficiency and turnovers. 11.8pts on 11.4 fga and 4.4ast on 3.0 TOs? That's terrible!

In the second half Steph played like a superstar and one of the all time greats and LeBron and AD did not. And that’s part of the knock on LeBron he can have important games where he looks very mortal at all ages and stages of his career. That said I expect he and AD to crush the Warriors in the next game.
