I know this was shown over three years ago. But what a wonderful horse. Gentle, calm and totally enjoying her work. All that chewing and licking, loose rein and totally connected to her work and rider. And ridden bridleless too! I am sure she found a wonderful home. Most of us dream of having a horse just like her 🙂

Regi is a picture of intrepidity. Wow. And she is so calm & yet purposeful about where she places her feet. Can't imagine how many months & years of training you've put into her 😊🐴. That obstacle course was seriously impressive. First time I've seen a sliding bridge before (kinda puts all those teeter-totter bridges to shame). Cool music choice, too. Thanks for sharing 👍🤗.

Thank you for posting this up on KZbin! I’m not a horse person, but I am a writer/artist, so I’m trying to figure out the logistics of a village of centaurs in the mountains right now. This is a great resource for my stories, so thank you! 💜🐎

Wow I’m impressed! And I’m not usually that interested in western horsemanship (I grew up in hunter /eventing country so I’m just not well versed in the subtleties Of western riding) but I can certainly appreciate the training and temperament that goes into a horse like this- worth his weight in gold! And WOW that course was nice!! Hmmm, maybe I’ll try taking some western lessons now that I live in Arizona... thanks for sharing this video

I just want to say, this is a mare I would be proud to call my own! Lovely color, great confidence and not "dead broke" (a plus to me, who likes a bit of mild sensitivity). I just wish the rider didn't have those spurs on her (props to them for not over using the spurs) and I also wish she had a shank leverage bit (a much milder less direct bit) or was bitless (I ride my MFT x Warmblood trail mare this way and she is much less bombproof). But other wise props to the owner and rider (and trainer) and huge props to the mare! Hope her buyer enjoys her, and uses her talent to the fullest! P.S. Oh, one more thing... your back cinch is crazy loose! :)
@larkluvshorses76314 жыл бұрын
I’m a little confused as to why you said a shank big would be nicer? The simple snaffle she wears in the video is one of the softest bits you can use on a horse. Direct pressure is way kinder to the horse and gentler on their mouth than leverage. If you pull on a snaffle with 5 pounds of pressure, she will feel 5 pounds of pressure, but if you pull on a shanked bit with 5 pounds of pressure she might feel 10-15 pounds of pressure. The snaffle is really the kindest bit for them to use on her.

Lovely horse, One thing though! Tighten that back cinch or take it off. A back cinch should fit snuggly against the belly not hanging 4+ inches off the horses belly where it is useless for doing its job of stabilizing the saddle! When you are cinching up your horse you want the back cinch to be very snug as once you mount your weight in the saddle will loosen it a bit. Having a back cinch this loose is actually a danger on a back country trail ride or when you are chasing cattle through brush as you can and will get snagged by branches.

No he is not roping or doing and kind of work so he doesn't need it snug and even when you are working you want it fairly loose because it can flank them which causes them to buck

Kristine Willems why it's not like it's hurting her it's her job and she knows what to do and besides she doesn't really feel pain it's more pressure than anything unless you jab them to hard which he isn't if you rode you would know that
@michelleking89604 жыл бұрын
He isn't even using the spurs. As someone who has had them on when riding, they are just "there". I know that people who have never seen them used properly or used them themselves properly, have no idea how the work. I had a 3 year old gelding once who had no idea what so ever what his "boundries" were ... he was constantly running peoples' legs into trees when on the trail. All I did was put them on and let him know when he was getting too close to a tree and it showed him, kind of, how close he could be to an obstacle before it was uncomfortable to for him (and his rider). When used properly, spurs are just an extension of the rider. To anyone who hasn't been there, done that (properly), don't judge.
@michelleking89604 жыл бұрын
If you really watch to the very end, and know what you are looking for, you will see the he is actually using his lower leg to control this amazing mare and not his spurs. Just saying.

Don’t use spurs or bits it hurts the horses!!
@JA-nc9ym6 жыл бұрын
Kendra The Fam it doesn't have to. :) A good rider will use them lightly. If your wondering why you'd use them at all if you use them lightly, it's because a spur concentrates the command and it's easier for the horse to understand the cue. I would agree that spurs aren't NECESSARY, though. Many western riders - myself included - ride without. Anyone who abuses a spurs power should take them off promptly, though! Someone I was trail riding with couldn't get his horse to cross a steam, so instead of us in the bridge, he let his pride blind him and kicked the horse until she had small abrasions on her belly. Afterwards, he realized his mistake and confiscated his spurs. Lesson is; like most tack, spurs are OK in moderation, but can be used for harm. They should be treated carefully.

Dakota you know you shouldn't assume if someone has ridden or not you do realize that my friend rides and she hates bits and spurs she use to do barrel racing and she use to ride bareback barrel racing she has ridden since she was a little girl she does not use bits she uses hackamors and she does not use spurs her horse lost his teeth from bits and I bet you are one of those people who are fancy and only care about yourself not other people so if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all and by the way I have ridden for 5 years now so just shut up if you won't stop being mean :(
@dakotaszakacs86535 жыл бұрын
Sarah Henry actually ur wrong I am 13 and have ridden since I was 4 and I come from a poor family I have a horse who's is lame and has cushings disease and I happen yo care very much about other people and yes I understand some people may not like spurs and bits but like I said it's not really pain more rather pressure and if ur friends horse lost teeth it's probably because she easy yankin to hard on her bit when she was riding barrels which happens to one of the most harmfust things for a horse to do so to put it in word don't assume anything and plus as my mom's friend who is my I instructor says suck it up and stop complaining
