It's so funny that the moral of the movie was that we're all mean girls in some way or the other, we've all put down other women or shamed them at some point in our life but that shouldn't make us fight even more but instead bring us together since we're all both, victims and perpetrators(just like Cady, Regina, Gretchen AND Janis too were ALL mean girls but also victims of each other), and yet we still have young women that grew up on this film trying to point fingers at who the "villain" might've been. Like there is a reason why the movie is called "Mean Girls" and not "Mean Girl" or even "The Plastics". It's not just about one person. It's about all the girls in the story and all the girls that are watching it too.

Regina is obviously a terrible person but she really did consider the plastics and Cadi as her real friends Even though she was a bad friend, she clearly felt extremely betrayed when they denied her the lunch table or when she found out about the bars Cadi has been feeding her
@babycherry81032 жыл бұрын
Except that the plot is that, She didn’t befriend cady because she likes her but because she felt threatened by her. Cady was new, pretty, interesting, and her ex was attracted to her, so she wanted to keep her under her control by being her friend. She did the same thing with Gretchen and Karen. Karen is prettier and Gretchen is richer than her, so she befriend them and sometimes put them down by calling Karen a sl*t and Gretchen ugly. She only felt bad cause she was loosing control over them.

@@kingkongchief1177 I mean there's not really any proof about that- we don't see her talking about Cadi behind her back at all in the movie although it does seem highly possible, especially after the moment with the skirt when Cadi realized she didn't really like her bracelet
@wyatt7782 жыл бұрын
She only befriended the other ex-plastics (I say ex plastics bcuz obviously at the end of the film/over summer vacation they disbanded) and Cady because she knew they could be threats to her stance as the most popular girl. Gretchen is filthy rich because as Damian said, her Dad (apparently) invented toaster strudel, Karen is extremely pretty (but also an airhead), Regina kind of explains this herself, she says: “It *should* be Karen but everyone forgets about her because she’s such a slut” when she says it, she’s referring to the queen bee title, and I forgot why she saw Cady as a threat tbh. She knew that by gaining weight and no longer sitting with the plastics, she’s losing popularity (of course at the end she comes to accept this). Really the only person that would stay by her was Shane, during all her meltdowns and stuff, but that didn’t seem like enough for Regina. Regina kind of fools Cady into being her friend by calling her bracelet pretty and calling Cady pretty, only for Cady to discover Regina didn’t actually like the bracelet. Sorry I made some in-depth paragraph about it, it’s okay if you didn’t read it. TL;DR: Regina befriended Gretchen, Karen, and Cady because she knew that they could easily take her spot as queen bee

I feel as if everyone is toxic in some way and there is no specific villain in mean girls. Janice was indeed very toxic and only had her friendship with candy built upon mutual hatred for a person (Regina). Regina’s meanness and toxicity was less subtle like Janice and more outright, which made her a stereotypical mean girl. Overall, they all betrayed each other in some way. Everyone greatly involved with the drama needs to apologize and deserves an apology.

Tina Fey has said she regrets not doing a sequel when the actresses were still young. Could have been "Sorority Girls" or something. But I think she could still revisit the characters successfully as "Mean Moms" with teenage Mean Girl daughters. A little bit of high school drama with their daughters, and a lot more middle-aged drama queens. It's less familiar territory for a movie, but that means it could be surprising and fresh. _Romy and Michele's High School Reunion_ was a success and minor hit. Then twenty years after _Mean Moms_ establishes a franchise, she can score again with _Mean Grandmas._ She should write the script for _Mean Nursing Home_ at that point, in case she doesn't live long enough. There aren't enough movies about bitchy cliques of elderly women. When writing that in advance, she should also pen the final movie in the series, _Mean Hospice,_ which is a thriller with the characters being killed off one by one. Like a murder mystery, but the chief murderer is time.

I saw a theory once that Regina made the “on Wednesdays we wear pink” rule for the Plastics because her mom is a breast cancer survivor(which is why she has implants) and since breast cancer awareness is associated with the color pink, Regina established that rule in dedication to her fighting mum. I think that’s really cute because it shows Regina actually loving and respecting her mom and adds a sweet extra layer to their relationship. Also adds an additional reason for her mother’s implants that go beyond just her trying to look “young”.

@@cheskatwixtor Fit in? Sure that was the original motive but she literally threw her off to become the new "queen bee" (Grechen and Karen didn't do that) As Aaron said "Regina 2.0"

Friendly reminder that Cady has never been to a public school her whole life so she obviously didn’t know any better. Not to mention that Regina knew that Cady liked Aaron so she stole him from her (telling him untrue embarrassing things about her in the process), which is why she agreed to do Janis’ plan. “Awesome career woman” my ass.

Only reason why girls like Regina can get away w/ being a mean girl unlike the other girls because of these factors; 1.) her social power 2.) fear & intimidation 3.) Charisma 4.) intelligence 5.) wealth & privilege 6.) manipulative skills 7.) two-faced behavior 8.)loyal followers 9.) subtle aggression 10.) lack of accountability 11.) confidence 12.) strategic kindness She simply knew how to play the system, adept at turning situations to her advantage & deflecting blame, able to play sweet in front of adults when necessary, her school enables her behavior, & sometimes she’s nice to maintain her image & to throw everybody off.
