As someone that is of the Christian faith, I do want y’all to know that the Bible has NEVER said you have to stay married if infidelity has taken place. I just constantly see questions like “do you think the Bible clouds your judgment in regards to divorce?” and it’s like “no need to ask that question, God never even said that you had to stay in those circumstances.” Church culture and what’s in the Bible is not always synonymous.

It's weird because the movie feels alot more impactful as I reflect on it after the fact. My grandmother was a preacher/elder's wife for 50 years; never in that timespan did she or anyone refer to her as "First Lady." She was a bible school teacher, President of a ladies' group that raised money for Christian education, and became a surrogate mother/grandmother to countless people. She didn't put herself in a hierarchy with the other women in the church. She was called Sister or simply her first name. Christians are not supposed to place anyone or ourselves above anyone or each other. We are all equal in Christ. And folks running with the whole First Lady title, ever since Michelle Obama was the first lady. Go to church to praise GOD and honor him, not to honor man. And scripturally, a preacher is a teacher, and his wife is a helpmate. It's the elders and deacons that her leaders in the church.
