When Regina first learns about her soulmate with the lion tattoo from Tink, that would have been before he met Marian and they had Roland. Also this was before she became the "evil queen". She was taking lessons from Rumple, but she wasn't really evil yet. People say if Daniel did come back to life he wouldn't be her true love anymore because of how much she's changed. But she's still Robin's soulmate, even though she's changed a lot now since Tink first told her about him. Now that Marian is back, if Regina was his soulmate before he met her, then the question is, can a person have two soulmates? Curious how they're going to play this out, will Marian have to die for them to be together? Obviously they're end game, but like all romances in this show, they will need to work through a lot to get there. People are all mad they took her happy ending away, but really they do this to every character in this show when they fall in love. It helps build their characters, and in the end they end up together, but they end up being stronger because of it. It also makes us want to watch it to see what happens next, obviously.

I think it depends on the circumstances. If you remember in Zelina's time travel portal Marian was supposed to die by none other than Regina herself... I don't know if that even would have set Regina and Robin on a path to find one another though... Also the characters fates are somewhat tied to what the author of the book wrote which at one point he considered giving Regina a happy love ending but decided to scrap it.
