Iran "won" the war during the first two years, then proceeded to throw their victory away by trying to counter-invade Iraq. Iran and China had very close relations since Parthian dynasty in Iran and the Han dynasty in China. Iran guaranteed the western end of the Silk Road and provided a safe land route to the European and Mediterranean market and China’s manufacturing provided the basis of a very lucrative trade route from which all benefited. This relationship only collapsed in recent history when West European countries discovered shipping routes that precluded the land route. Recent relations between Iran and China seek to renew this ancient relationship.

As an Iranian, I respect and value all countries and nations of the world. I am a 50-year-old Iranian who has been opposed to the regime and its treatment of the Iranian people since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution. However, the world should be aware that the US sanctions do not target the Iranian regime; instead, these sanctions directly impact the Iranian people and their economy. The Iranian regime has not only remained unaffected by the sanctions but is increasing its power every day. It is only the patient people of Iran who have been affected and are suffering from the sanctions. American and Western politicians also know this very well. I wish for peace in the entire world. I hope that superpowers cease interfering in other countries and allow the people of the world, especially those in the third world, to live in peace.

Which sanctions from the USA hurt ordinary people in Iran? In what ways? I know nothing of this.
@alborzdmavandi81908 ай бұрын
@@JamesEPowell Hello dear friend To know the reality of a land, the best way is to travel to that land and live with the people of that land. Surely, every American is proud of his country and government. Because of power - wealth - science and all the best in the world and it should be the same. But more than 90% of the respectable people of the United States do not know what oppressions their government and policy do to the people of other lands in order to bring more prosperity to the respectable people of the United States, and they will not understand for the rest of their lives because they do not need to understand. Because they live in the best possible situation and are full of greatness - honor and pride. In my third-world country, thanks to the help of US politicians, in order for a respectable American to use cheaper gas for his car fuel, in 1979, the Shah's regime was overthrown and the mullahs dominated the country. Mullahs were full of enmity with the people of Iran, but only with the help of politics and the great government of the United States. From 1980 to today, the United States government intends to punish the mullahs. And every day a new sanction. The embargo on passenger planes - cargo ships - vehicles - agricultural machinery - household appliances - selling any Iranian product to a foreign customer - embargo on banks - embargo on airlines - embargo on hospital supplies - Iranians cannot even sell stone, cement, or saffron to customers outside Iran. Unless you are an Iranian and third-world, you cannot understand what I'm saying. The truth is that strength is always victorious in the field, and the words of people like me are like a drop from the sea - like hitting a stone with a fist - like defining the pain of being blind for a sighted person - defining the pain of being deaf for a person who has hearing. US sanctions not only did not defeat the mullahs, but made them more brutal and powerful, but made the Iranian people poorer and more isolated. Greetings to the United States. listening I wish that the day will come when the United States is full and will no longer interfere in the work of other countries in the world.

One main and the most important factor that the West fails to understand , is: Iran has history and identity, and Iranians know who they are and, what is their place in history. This is exactly what the West does not have. At its best the history of the West goes back to year 1500 when THEY discovered the earth is not flat ( or some of them). While Iran's history of having a central government goes back AT LEAST 2,500 years. Many of those 2,500 years were painful , but there was many periods of pride and glory, progress and achievements. Iran and China are two only grand civilizations that throughout history raised from their ashes and reconstructed many times over. Both are not simply two countries; they are civilizational countries. One reason that the Russians have a better understanding of Iran; is, because the Russians are the only Central government that had 1,100 years of consistent history of governance and centrality, therefore historical identity. No wonder , today, finally these three government are having close cooperation: Iran , China and Russia. Unfortunately the weak link in that cooperation is the governance of Iran, which shall improve with in next two years. (( thanks to American sanctions and to certain degree our Israeli ''brothers''.)) ... California.

Not to mention how western countries helped Saddam invade Iran. Millions of Iranians starved to death under Anglo-Soviet invasion and occupation, and over a half a million got killed with western weaponry during Saddam's invasion of Iran in the 80s. As a Chinese and Chinese perspective, Americans were approaching Persia with overwhelming ignorance. You could examine the appearance of "Disease" (so to say)"in skin deep but never find right prescription. I think the first/foremost root is inside the Shia (twelvers )tradition and long/everlasting historical heritage. I'm little disappointed for the film, first portion isn't mentioned and second point (Iranian history) is too short. However, the definition (as title suggested) of this film is to explain "Iranian syndrome" instead of root cause. In this point, I think this film is good.

God bless Iran from the USA. This piece of propaganda is misinforming western masses and I agree with you, Iranians are forced to behave defensively, and they've got unique skills in the process. Iranians got treated as animals during Anglo-Soviet invasion and occupation of Iran. And how US led western block screwed it up even further since the beginning of 20th century. Plotting coup against democratic govt. of early 1950s and installing a brutal dictator like Pahlavi. Further, crushed Iranians with brutal sanctions since 79 revolution. The "White Revolution", a wortless paper from MIT students who had never been outside of US, adopted by Pahlavi had failed by mid-1970's. Iran was in a deep recession by late 1977.
