Always wondered why Tokyo has such a dense population. There are remote parts of Northern Japan that are very sparsely populated that look like a wasteland with abbandoned buildings, schools and railways. Most students go to school in the bigger cities, or move when they have finished school and never return. You can goal day and only see a few very old people in these areas.

It's where the jobs are. For a US comparison, imagine a city that combines New York City, Los Angeles and Washington DC. Imagine how a city that is the cultural, financial, entertainment and government center of a country would attract money and jobs.

Widely traveled here and I find these comparisons fascinating. But one thing to keep in mind is our similarities. People all over the world want the same things. A safe place to raise a family , food to eat , and to laugh. And despite what the media wants us to believe, if you treat people nice no matter your nationality , they will treat you nice. That has been my experience in all 96 countries I have visited.

You appear to support the continued growth of the human population, as shown in the section on Japan v Mexico. Why is Japan's decline population a problem rather than a advantage? Why are people continuing with the believe of an expanding population without any limits?
@rafael_lana
@rafael_lana Ай бұрын
Because declining population in peace times always means older average population too. That means less productivity, taxes and people to care for the elderly. It's an absolute disaster, not an advantage. Humanity is on route to clear the climate crisis by the mid of this century. After that, the lack of children will be the next big challenge, mark my words.
@doug-Hakura

@@rafael_lana Hi, sorry for the delay, I've been thinking about your comment. I don't disagree with the changes that a declining population brings, however, how can humans continue with ever increasing population inn a infinite world? This is the basis of my position.
@rafael_lana
@rafael_lana 21 күн бұрын
@@doug-Hakura we don't have to, that's my position. As people get richer, women naturally start having children later in life, in less number and frequency. The position where young people want a lot of children is EXTREMELY hard to replicate once you're past it, and should be used to fuel your economy to become a developed country with lots of technology and attractive to migrants who can extend said behavior. There is a maximum of how much humans can live on earth sure, but we're not even close to that. There's huge areas without mechanized agriculture, refrigeration and such things. Not to speak of promising tech like bacteria manufacturing of fuel, food or medicine or fusion as energy generation. We're solving climate change a few decades after agreeing it was real. The situation is much better than doomsayers like you to believe, because fears sells. The planet will be ok, in fact it will probably be better in 100 years then it is now bc we're here. The lack of young people will be the next big problem, just wait and watch.

Although the Japanese have reached their population peak ages ago and are in a population decline, this does not mean they will also experience an economic Japan - I mean, just think about how all the high-tech stuff they have! Most likely these machines such as robotics and idk machines will take over even more human jobs, so that the decline in population does not affect the Japanese economy as much.
@rafael_lana
@rafael_lana Ай бұрын
Extremely wrong, would make sense if the population was declining in perfect proportion. What is really happening is the young population is declining by a lot. That means less productivity, taxes, people to look after the elderly and innovate all those robots you're talking about. Japan, being a very attractive country to live in, with a big diaspora, can easily solve that by relaxing their very strict migration laws however.

Did u know ? Bangladesh 🇧🇩 is relatively big country extends for nearly 1200 km from north & south & extends east to west for nearly 850 kilometres. It’s not an overcrowded country but only western media tends to fabricate & never tells the truth. It’s population isn’t 172 million but much less. Bangladesh 🇧🇩 consists of 64 Districts & I travelled all of them I didn’t see 172 million people, some statistics say its 162 million others say 180 million population, in reality they’re all wrong. In Bangladesh 🇧🇩 they are regions either inhabited or uninhabited for example Chittagong Hill Tracts mountainous region in south east of Bangladesh 🇧🇩 has population density only of 90 persons per sq km & Sunderbans the largest mangrove forest 🌳 in the world 🌍 situated in southwest of Bangladesh 🇧🇩 has total area of 6,000 sq km but no human settlements. There’s many patches of uninhabited places in all 64 districts even in Dhaka district which is most densely populated in whole Bangladesh 🇧🇩 with 12,000 people per sq kilometre but still has wastelands & green spaces but u media don’t intend to show the truth jus use old Dhaka as scapegoat. Area of Bangladesh 🇧🇩 isn’t 140,000 sq km ur absolutely wrong but total area of Bangladesh 🇧🇩 including nautical miles is 269,000 sq km & soon will add more hidden islands in Bay of Bengal.

Serbia is usually considered as Central Europe too, but you rarely hear Serbs, Slovenes and Croatians reffering to themselves as central europeans. More like Balkans or southerns. Besides, something as Central Europe doesn’t really exist. It’s a geographical term for the most part. Culturally we are more Eastern. But the best way to describe CE is “a part of Europe with Eastern mentality that wants to be and and earn like West. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

It is a very appropriate term, to a country that is on its way of reaching levels of prosperity, industrialization and development of the nations that first reached the top. Labels are usefull when describing things, even when they offend people. I'm in a developing nation btw, some areas are first world, some are third. No use denying it.

And if the Chinese hadn't had the "One Child Policy" what would their population be today. In fact they'd probably still be riding bicycles and eating little more than rice. It's time India had a one child policy now.

Nope, that thing was idiotic and they realize that now. The way you cap your population is making them richer and more educated. One child policy has caused a severe imbalance on the gender ratio, and a lot of people raised in that system are unwilling to have more than one child themselves. Their demographic on the next few decades will take a catastrophic turn, already many papers on the subject.

@@rafael_lana I know the damage it did, but they did it wrong. We would still have a nine billion population now and the Chinese would be starving to death. It was begun because of famine. Now they're the richest country on earth. They have a very strong army and navy too, which is terrifying, because I don't think they care if half of them get killed in war. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to take over the world.

You left out the part where the riches countries took all the natural resources and wealth during colonization from the poorest countries. And the fact that God has done anything about it has everyone think that's ok

From a country that was colonized for more than 200 years (much longer than Africa), no they didn't take all the resources. They barely even scratched surface in fact. Theres not ONE country that was colonized that was looted clean. In many cases (mainly the Americas) , we went from the stone age to the pre industrial age in less than two centuries. Literal 6 millenia of technology gobbled up in 200 years. Gained a common language, technology that was considered magic and some nice infrastructure to kick start our own countries. All of that for some metal, that rarely exceeds the annual production we see now. Stop balmming the colonial process for all our problems, things were just as chaotic or worse before that. Most times worse. Leaders post independence have done way more damage too, but they always have the talking point of blaming the pesky colonizers.
