you didn’t remove French Guyana, a territory of France, along with France, making this inaccurate.

FFS! Stop saying "became" instead of "become" - English is your first language, and this very BASIC error, shows your education level is quite wanting! And I'm not even an English language native speaker! Seriously, WTF are they teaching your generation in schools these days?

I’m in the same boat as you. I’d love to go to North Korea. My mom is of course diabolically opposed to it and my gf thinks I’m crazy but I would so go if I had the money and someone to go with.

If you’re American it’s unfortunately been made illegal to ever visit, and that’s a law I doubt any future president will be rushing to repeal. But if you live elsewhere, Samjiyon is opening itself up to winter tourism next month. Find a tour guide agency and go for it.

Sea level lowering this much is very bad for canals. Basically they all become useless, and building others to take a similar role becomes, well kinda impossible.

Everyone saying theyd visit: you would not see anything real. You would not be allowed to walk around on your own. You would not be allowed to speak to anyone. It is extremely privileged of you to say youd go somewhere people risk their lives to escape

There are hundreds of thousands of North Koreans living abroad with citizenship and voting rights. Human trafficking yourself to the south to make money is what people “risk their lives” to do.

For Everyone up in arms about the Canada border and Everest thing, I think the mistake lies in the fact that Everest FROM SEA LEVEL is 8.848 km high. Canadas border with the U.S. is 8,891 km long I see where the issue could’ve come from but yes that is a big difference

A quadripoint is practically useless as you cannot cross into the fourth country without violating the territory of either the 'left' or 'right' neighbor unless your width is infinitely small.

Can you imagine the chaos? In Europe, only Portugal, Spain, France, UK, Ireland, Denmark ( Faroes ) and Iceland have access to the world's oceans. The rest are either land-locked or with access only to the totally enclosed Arctic ocean. The other big change would be to the world's ocean currents which would mean the end of the Gulf Stream/ North Atlantic Drift, so the climate would change drastically for the worse. I wonder what holidays would be like in either of the Mediterranean Lakes?

"If I was offered the chance to visit North Korea, all expenses paid, I'd do it in a heartbeat." Hmmm, might not be the smartest decision. Yes it is safe in terms of having low crime, but it's not uncommon for foreigners to be detained there for little-to-no reason. You seem very naive, my friend.

This is a pretty good video. It's also objectively propaganda. Casting doubt on official figures for no real reason, almost all footage is on overcast days with poor lighting, sad music is played over normal footage of city streets with sweepers and cars and pedestrians, and a metric ton of shots of factories pumping out smoke for extra effect. The figures their own government puts out are not exactly flattering or self-aggrandizing, by all accounts it's pretty modest. Middle of the road life expectancy, a touch higher than what the developing world usually gets but about on par with what you get when healthcare is nationalized and hospitals have clean sanitary conditions, a military whose size is about 10% of the population, which makes sense given that enlistment is mandatory for those that are of-age and they are still threatened by the military might of the United States on a daily basis, and travel by car is low in large part because there's very little current demand for it given the proliferation of bicycles and proximity of residential spaces to grocery stores and other essential errands. Farmers have their trucks, but find me an automaker around the world that wants to sell cars at a price the country's citizens could afford (given the long-standing embargo that has put the country in an economic chokehold) and I'll show you a living unicorn. Perhaps Chollima himself if you gave me enough time. Point I'm trying to make is that it's not a crime to use KCNA and other government press releases as sources. You can give them all the scrutiny you want, put a disclaimer on footage of the newly developed factories and rural housing units that you think they're Potemkin villages or whatever, but if only to spice up the way the video looks and present a side of North Korea that's at least *trying* to prosper given recent investments into regional economies, roadways, and villages, those resources are available and you won't get called a North Korea shill if you put them in the proper context.
