@@RealJackHQ It was the music and the lighting, as well as that klaxxon that scared me a lot as a kid (even I was like Tarrant at times going "Aaah! That noise!"). For years, I used to think we were the first to have WWTBAM, but no, it was Chris Tarrant in 1998. But we were the first to ever bring a Millionaire on the path- it was John “phone my dad” Carpenter. Even so, I hope Tarrant is doing well, but for the Reegmaster, I’m gonna miss that guy and I’ll never play or watch WWTBAM without thinking of him. It may hurt, but he was a legendary part of it. God bless Regis and Chris.

WWTBAM’s first version outside of the UK was actually Australia with Eddie McGuire as host and still continues to host it today with the “Hot Seat” format which I am not a fan of.
@wecantfightgravity3 жыл бұрын
Nope. It was actually Netherlands, which was the first ever country to have had WWTBAM outside the UK with the title Weekend Miljonairs, in February 1999. But the first worldwide Millionaire winner wasn't found until John Carpenter made it in November 1999 in America. So America was the first ever country to have had the worldwide Millionaire winner.

Five and a half years after the final episode of the original primetime run of Millionaire aired, ABC aired the first major primetime gameshow tournament in television history. The event, which ran from 12/16/07 to 12/23/07, was known as Duel, and featured a progressive jackpot which eventually awarded $1.72 million to its winner. As it sounds, Duel featured two contestants competing against each other head-to-head over a series of multiple-choice questions, where the contestant who did not select the correct answer lost the game. That show began production shortly before a strike by the WGA that took place between November 2007 and February 2008; as a result, a ten-episode regular series was ordered. The ten-episode series was scheduled to air between 4/4/08 and 6/6/08, but the last five episodes of the series were delayed to air beginning on 6/27/08 due to the show's cancellation that was announced before the episode that aired on 5/2/08. The final episode of the series aired on 7/25/08. Mike Greenberg sounds familiar because he was the host of Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio between 2000 and November 2017, when he moved to ESPN television for the new morning show Get Up, which premiered in early 2018. Anyway, it is so sad to see Regis go. Rest easy, dear. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.
