Great video. I'd love to see one where you decode the Cisco Part numbers. Now I understand that 3PCC means support for 3rd party call control, W seems to indicate white color, RF indicates refurbished. Still can't figure out what NC, 3PW, NA or ++ mean when included in the part numbers. I can see 11 different Cisco part numbers for the 8841 -- CP-8841-K9=, CP-8841-K9++=, CP-8841-NC-K9=, CP-8841-W-K9-RF, CP-8841-W-K9=, CP-8841-K9-RF, CP-8841-3PCC-K9=, CP-8841-3PW-NA-K9=, CP-8841-3PCC-K9++=, CP-8841-3PWNAK9-RF, CP-8841-3PCC-K9-RF. It's a little confusing.

Hey. I just bought a cp8861 with 3PCC PN. When starting the phone it’s not asking for an activation code and i can’t access the web gui. It’s always idleing. I tried to upgrade the firmware with ttps64 but can’t access admin setting on the phone neither can see the admin setting in the settings. Factory reset didn’t help. Any idea what to do?

Hi Cisco Sal, I wonder if you help me, I bought a 8861-3PCC secondhand that was previously used with Ring Central. I can access the phone settings on the phone screen including wifi setup, IP address etc. BUT I can't access it's web page, I have tried 4 different browsers (as I have noted some don't work too well). It says connection refused under https and under http it shows the Cisco ico on the address bar but I just get a circle of dots spinning round. Perhaps it's locked to Ring Central, if so is there a way of releasing it? Any other ideas gratefully received.... I have an SPA525G2, that is a doddle to program but like the looks of the 8800 series - Thanks

8900 phones do not support the mpp firmware. You need an 8800 or 7800 series phone. Make sure you buy the phone as a 3pcc or mpp phone. Look for 3pcc in the sku. If you don’t get a 3pcc phone then you will have to pay to convert it to one. Better off purchasing it the correct way.

***RESOLVED*** The issue was with my Chrome browser on iMac not bringing up the 3PCC configuration page. I switched to Edge browser on Windows PC and it worked as expected. Phone is working now - with the exception of the MWI. I have an email out to the service provider. Awesome video Cisco Sal. I just purchased a model 6851 which has 3PCC in model description. My plan was to replace the SPA525G that's been registered to my SIP provider (PhonePower), but unlike the SPA525G I cannot get the 6851's configuration screen to load. I can occasionally see the 3rd Party Call Control login screen, but entering any values (user or admin) along with the password I setup simply goes nowhere. Any thoughts? Unfortunately, my SIP service provider will not provision this device so I have to do it manually. Setting up the SPA525G was easy, but this newer phone is proving to be difficult. Thanks, Rob.

So I called to request enablement and apparently it's a big deal (in a bad way) that I wanted this for my residence. Is there more to it than just turning on the feature for my account? Not sure if I should try calling back to get someone else or just return my 8861 and try again with Meraki as I originally planned? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts :)
@CiscoSal7 жыл бұрын
Travis Rauh it would be the same situation with Meraki. Cisco does not sell direct so not sure where you were calling. You want to call a value added reseller. Cdw is an example of one. They should be able to help you out.
@travisrauh7 жыл бұрын
Thanks again, Sal! I had called Spark's sales team directly which is probably where I went wrong (I thought it was just a matter of having the calling feature enabled) -- she didn't guide me to a reseller at all which was what turned me off. After that conversation, I cancelled my 8861 order and got a couple MC74s from a partner. We'll see if/how much I regret that! :P

Sal, I am farily new to VoIP, but am very interested in the 8861 due to the ability to use it via WiFi and not have to run Ethernet. I have to landlines that I would like to "transfer" to a VoIP service, but am wondering if you had any suggestion for a VoIP provider that you have had good success with AND is compatible with the 8861.

Sal, Thanks for the reply. Was hoping you could give me a little more info on the 8861. Getting a straight answer from the right person at Cisco who even knows what the xxx-3PCC phones are, has been challenging to say the least..... Therefore, I was hoping you could help me... I have a 7,000 sq ft property that spans 2 floors. I was originally considering two or three 8861-3PCC for the main knowledge workers, and a lower end model for the non-knowledge workers. The main features I need to have between ALL of the phones is... 1) ability to intercom from one to the other. 2) ability to page ALL the phones at once. 3) a shared directory of names and numbers between all the phones 4) ability for each station to answer calls on any line at that location. So can this be accomplished with a mixed environment of phones or would all the phones have to be ALL 8861's ? If it could be a mixed environment, could it be some 8861's and some SPA525G2's?
@CiscoSal7 жыл бұрын
This is going to be something you will need to test. With Cisco Spark as the calling service everything will work except using the SPA525's, those would have to be replaced. If you have paging working today on the SPA525's i would assume it would also work on the 8861 phones but again it will depend on what features your VOIP provider supports. How many SPA phones do you have? If its only a few SPA phones I am willing to bet your local Cisco account team can make those disappear and upgrade them to a 7821 for little to no cost if you switch to Spark VOIP.
@NotesDOGG7 жыл бұрын
Sal, Again, I appreciate the time. So far I don't have any SPA's or any 8861 or 7821. I was hoping to get these question answered before I buy, given the inability to return Cisco items once they are opened. Are there any other resources that would know about the cross compatibility between a 8861 and SPA model phones?
@CiscoSal7 жыл бұрын
I would stay away from SPA phones to be honest with you. If you need a low cost phone I would go with the 7811 or 7821. Don't think a SPA phone will be much cheaper then that. Also a 7800 series or 8800 series phone will give you the most flexibility. You can register the 7800 or 8800 series phones to anything. The SPA phones we don't support in Spark or CUCM. For best pricing I would reach out to your local Cisco Account Manager. Thanks!

Tip to setup 3PCC phone: • Setup a bridge (web) server that allows you to generate user tailor made provisioning profiles... • Make the profiles available via TFTP (you can handle request to generate dynamically the file) www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/MPP/8800/english/provisioning/p881_b_mpp-8800-provisioning-guide/p881_b_mpp-8800-provisioning-guide_chapter_011.html • DHCP option 66 And because your boss didn't saw all the hard time you invested to make your life easy he wrongly think you're expandable 😉

@CiscoSal7 жыл бұрын
+O KK what do you mean by difficult to use? What issue are you having with the firmware? Cisco sells two versions of the phone. One that registeres to Cisco call control and another that it sip standards based that you can register to any 3rd party system.
@oknyc7 жыл бұрын
I was trying to work out why there are two SKUs with the only difference appearing to be the firmware between the two for call control and why you cannot change the firmware from one to another - it is a limiation that is not good for end-users.
@CiscoSal7 жыл бұрын
Cisco allows for conversion from 3PCC phones to CUCM Firmware. Just not the other way around. If you need a 3PCC phone just make sure the SKU is correct. If you some how end up ordering the wrong one, a legitimate distributer, or Cisco partner will swap them out no problem. Also if you are using a legitimate partner they should check the order before it even goes in and catch any issues.
@oknyc7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the follow-up that is what I thought, and it is not good for an end-user. Do you know why the limitation from CUCM > 3PCC is not possible? I assume this is a software limitation only. I have old CUCM phones that cannot be repurposed within the business.
