In 1857 a royal commission was established that set itself the task enabling owners to deal with land as easily as they can - it dealt with chattels and stock. The first legislation was enacted in 1862 and further statutes in 1875 and 1897. But it was not until the Land Registration Act 1925 came into force that significant steps were taken towards a nationwide system of registration
1st Jan 1926 lots of crucial statues came into force, which revolutionised property law e.g. LRA 1925. The LRA 1925 has been repealed in its entirety; registered estates in land are now governed by the Land Registration Act 2002. So LRA 2002 is the statute that governs registered land!

What is Land Registration Act 2002 ? What is the Act about?

Thank you for your questions! The Land Registration Act 2002 ("LRA") introduces some of the most radical changes to property law since 1925 and aims to make the buying and selling of land simpler, quicker and cheaper. The Act replaces all existing legislation on land registration, introduces a new regime for adverse possession, and begun the movement from paper-based to electronic conveyancing.
