@@NewLevelAuto Well Keith, those people are EVERYWHERE! They tell themselves they deserve it because they work so hard, and they NEED it because they need reliable transportation. Most of the time they are able to squeeze by with the payments. Since they are dumb enough to believe the deserve it and need it, they are dumb enough to believe BMW's are good reliable cars. Then it's like SURPRISE, it's broken again and the credit cards are all maxed out. Frugal Tom is always there to make a quick $25 with some epsom salt!

The AZ that i work at has a LOT of BMW, Mercedes, & Audi owners. They get pissed when we tell them that we can't install a new battery in their car because of the battery needing to be registered or that it screws up the security with the car without having the proper tools or qualified people to do the job right. I've found that the people that own these cars are the cheapest car owners out there. Even the guys with the rusted out Chevy's spend more money on their cars that the owners of these fish bowls.

The people that cheap out on these cars bought them used and didn't know what they got themselves into. You have to either go to an expert level shop that specializes in that brand or go to the dealer, period. A lot of these vehicles can last, especially the newer ones but proper maintenance is key.

Have you ever tried to press F2 or F3 for retrofit of the VO to a different capacity or type of battery? Despite those 2 options being listed, they do not work when using the factory tool which is all we use. Retrofitting a battery is a programing procedure in ISTA. I wonder if it can be done by simply pressing F2 or F3 on the aftermarket tool? Remember to check the VO to see if it has actually changed. On another note, it seems obvious that Autel copied the ISTA software due to it asking if there is a QR code or the like on the new battery. This is done for warranty and brand tracking at the OE level; so I'm not sure why Autel or any other aftermarket tool manufacturer would concern themselves with that. It leads one to think it was part of the software cloning process, which would be illegal if the aftermarket tool manufacturer did not have permission from BMW for use of that intellectual property. This "unknown" is just one of many reasons we do not use aftermarket scan tools. Of course, each business needs to do what suites their needs best.

I've changed battery type/size with an Autologic. Which is better than ISTA, autel etc.. I do also have an Autel, which I love.
@flatratemaster5 жыл бұрын
I have not, but Autel will program, not that i approve of that. If needed in the past we would do a day sub for ISTA, but as soon as our ICOM gets here, Ordered just waiting for the box to arrive, we will be doing the year sub, and have full access to Air, ISTA/ISTA p etc

@nicholasierubino82235 жыл бұрын
That brings up a very important note on AAA. I have seen that time and time again. The best is when they install a lead acid on a AGM system dont adapt it or do it on a Benz and dont replace the auxiliary battery. Had this happen for 2 months in a row on high end cars, all exactly 6 months after the local AAA replaced batteries.

If it’s smart enough to change the charging rate for a battery overtime as it degrades, why isn’t it smart enough to tell when there is a new battery in it?
@FishFind30005 жыл бұрын
Reckless entertainment how would It know unless the battery had a computer on it? If you disconnect the battery the car is smart enough to think you may have changed it so it allows you to then mess with the battery options. Otherwise you can’t play with that. There’s no way for it to know it’s new.

3:22 what! It needs to set the date and time to register the battery but it can possibly set the wrong date and time. And it doesn’t matter because it instructs you to reset it manually. That is a classic program designer trick to obfuscate what is really being done.

Troy Built ,I’m impressed by that. But my point was it isn’t a big deal to register a battery. Bmw would kill batteries in 3-5 years before they switched over to the IBS system. I also guarantee those delco batteries weren’t on cars with as high of an electrical load as a 5 or 7 series bmw.
@Troy_Built5 жыл бұрын
@@jcsuperstars1100 If they want to make a more efficient system I have no argument with that . The problem is what they require to program it. The have designed it to be much harder than it needs to be. I have access to scanners but the average owner doesn't. They seem to have intentionally tried to make it take an expensive special tool just to change the battery. That I have a problem with. I'm sure all manufacturers would love to make it illegal for a car owner to do anything more than put gas in it.
