Here's my first full KZbin video & I've chosen to look at braking in detail and, specifically, how to brake smoothly.
My book - Advanced & Performance Driving - is available in paperback and ebook from Amazon here: tinyurl.com/pr7...

Hi John, I have watched many of your KZbin videos prepping me for my standard police driving course. I didn’t know what to expect before going on the course, so I wanted to be best prepped. I watched lots of your KZbin videos and taught myself to an extent before going on the course. I do learn a lot better by watching videos than reading books! I have just taken my final test and passed. And I’d love to just say a massive massive thank you 🙏🏼

Excellent driving style. In my opinion, it was very fast and extremely smooth.All downshifts were after braking with rev matching.Professional driver! I would like to drive such way.

Recommended by a friend and I am now subscribed. It would appear that, even with 30+ years of experience, there are likely to be points that either; a) confirm I'm doing things right, or b) remind me that there is room for improvement. Unlike other keyboard warriors I take the view that "every day can be a school day" and, unlike yourself, have not undertaken any additional training since passing my test..... the exception to that being my views on the Ashley Neal channel. Your experience is something that I can benefit from. My intention is to run through in chronological order so as to avoid missing anything. 👍

Well Hello there! You say you have not "undertaken" any additional training. How much "undertaking" do you plan on doing? 🙂

@@grahamnutt8958 It's perfectly ok for you to undertake your training as long as those doing their training to the right of you are training in groups and learning slower than you. Just don't move further east to deliberately train faster than them...

After passing my ROSPA advance driving (Gold) last year I'm constantly looking for advice and further improvement as a professional driver in my driving and these videos provide exactly that, excellent instruction, well given and easily understood for drivers of any level. I have started giving bits of advice and tips to my fellow truck drivers at work on improving their own driving, with noticable effects and improvements, and I will definitely be sharing all your videos with them. Thankyou.

For this video, the camera was mounted slightly lower than my eye line and the wide angle lens gives a slightly foreshortened view. the overtake was perfectly safe and came from an early advanced view into the dip which was slightly reduced on approach. Keep coming back - I'll be posting a video on overtaking in the near future!

Thank you for reply but I wouldn't have put into a video for public consumption, I was not driving you were, all I am saying is given the video as seen it looks dodgy.

It would be interesting to see you drive a low powered modern 3 cylinder car and do a video about how to keep momentum, what lines to take etc etc as per usual. Fantastic channel btw! Thank you so much for sharing all these videos Reg!

Just found your channel. This takes me back to my standard car course in Sussex which must have been about 1980. I fancy improving my skills again having probably picked up a load of bad habits in the intervening years. I have your book via Kindle Unlimited and its an enjoyable read. 👍

Excellent video - thank you. On a lighter note, these tight corners make you wonder where does the road take you given that the country is flat.

I hate to pick holes - and I'm just about to embark on an IAM course... But just after having overtaken a motorcyclist (1:52) don't you then approach the brow of a hill - ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD (1:57)..!? I would have thought this to be a no-no, whatever your skill... Unless you've got a siren at top volume, full whack, am I not correct in saying that on an open country road - that's quite a hazardous thing to do...?

Alexandra Abraham, I think he had a very good view of the road ahead, it drops off and away to the left before rising to the right. I think the camera also does not show the road ahead very well. In later vids he talks about positioning for such a corner.

Your book is good, but do you have something against motorcyclists? You make several snide comments about them. This is ironic considering the average biker has far more training and awareness than the average car driver.
@RegLocal
@RegLocal 8 жыл бұрын
Hi, don't worry, I actually have a lot of time for the majority of motorcyclists - in general they have a higher degree of awareness and better observations than other average road users. I do, however, have an issue with the (not insignificant) minority of moterbikerists who throw caution to the wind and ride with little or no appreciation for the fact that they are actually one of the most vulnerable types of road user. We should all be looking after ourselves and each other a little better out there!

Cresting a hill on the wrong side of the road is not dodgy, your view must have been vastly different to the camera view

+Keith Mundy All you seem to do on these videos is complain about nothing! The 'video' on his phone is the GoPro app that lets him start and stop the camera. The camera is fixed so he is not looking at the screen while driving. No more dangerous than a satnav; less in my opinion as he is not constantly checking it.
@redcross1956

+fireworks368 App or not...that screen is playing back exactly what the camera is recording and unless i read the law totally wrong...it is a video playback device visible to the driver and that is illegal

+Keith Mundy in that case what is the legality of backup cameras or the night vision on some Audis. I think you are trying too hard to make a point and are just nit-picking.

OK reg i have looked at this about 10 times there is absolutely no advanced view into the dip unless you are so tall you have to have a perspex bubble on the roof of your car so you can see into it or perhaps you could somehow show me some stills of the" advanced view" then i will be enlightened.

+Keith Mundy Police driving instructor, the camera is not at his perspective so you can't say what he can and can't see, also he will almost definitely be thinking far more ahead than any normal driver and be able to make different routes because of it

+Keith Mundy I know that road well and you have plenty of time to see if anyone enters down into the dip and can see quite well down into it. I manage and my ass is a couple of inches off the floor in an mx5!
