We are loving family that live in bamboo huts & now a cottage in Rural Thailand. Damo (me), Ryan (my husband), and Otis (Our Son) spend our days taking care of the land and the animals and enjoying each others company. Its the simple life and we love to share it with you. We have been living in our tiny house for a number of months now and we thought it was time to make an update video, here we go over some small regrets we have with the build.

The cheapest way to keep the stairs to uptop inside and remain functional is to move it 1.5m further along that wall and the stairs widened for better foot placing. This will then at least pull the top of the stairs away from the roof angle and make it a bit easier to climb..........But that would require repositioning the decorative pole to a new location

Hindsight is always 20/20, but rather then regrets, life lessons. For your baby pig, her Pink and Black coloring reminded me of a candy called “Good and Plenty”.

Hahaha my GOD i hated that candy so MUCH!! My siblings and I loved Mike and Ikes candy, and my father would sometimes accidentally buy Good and Plenty instead because they came in very similar boxes and we haaaated it haha

Ryan you could always construct an outdoor staircase for the balcony mate and that would give more living space in the cottage. Then make I pull down staircase for whenever you want to use the hot room space you use now above your staircase mate 👍👍

Hey Ryan, I don't know if it has been mentioned before. As a work around for your internal stairs, maybe you could build a staircase externally outside to the deck. You may find you will access the deck and Loft more with this form of easy access. Good luck with you life journey

I think the tiles outside look great even though they are different, because there is a little step it’s easier to see where the step is. Can you still change the steps upstairs? Everything looks perfect ,warm,bright beautiful! Love all the plants that make it so homey!

Your ocassional anxiety (so true, we all have the same) might be reduced by not seeing yourself as an expat with a Thai wife (youtube click bait titles ;) - but more as a priveldged migrant, taveller, explorer and/or a refugee 🥰 The 'expat' thing does my head in :)

I often dig my heals in with he word expat because the Thai government stamp the word "non-immigrant" in my passport. The Thai Wife is purely for the algo, we discussed this together and decided its best when compared to the horrendous things we see in titles and thumbnails, cheers

Maybe a spiral staircase outside to the balcony would be a solution. Then just use the internal as and when in the wet season 😉🙏

Hello Damo and Ryan! Best to you all! Best solution in that situation is to put ventilation pipe to your waist waterpipe outside and need to rise waist pipes connection over your roof and over 1m over your roof level. If you do not want to smell it on your balcony.

House Looks Great Ryan I think the tile on the entrance is fine the other may have looked too busy, did you vent the bathrooms with pipe extended to the roof line? you seem to have insulated it well. lovely design and good planning of space. couldn't you just reverse the stairs to the other side and give yourself more headroom? Hi Ryan, To prevent Baby Hugo from developing a flat back head, try not to make him sleep in a traditional hammock. Most Asians have this syndrome with flat head. Perhaps you can also add murals to the side of the cottage underneath the balcony.

(Trying to learn Thai so using it as much as possible, even if I have to learn how to spell! lol) As you mentioned in another post, perhaps "regrets" is too strong a connotation? There are always some aspects you find that might need to be changed after a build. Have a few at my house on the farm. But overall, it looks like you are pleased with the outcome. I like the balcony idea so much I want to build something similar on the farm. I can't attach it to the house, so perhaps an elevated observation area over the car park (which is my next project once the guest house is completed) will be my solution. Life is a 'work in progress' requiring change, adaptation to new things, that never ends. You, and your family, are off on a great start to this adventure! Keep doing what you are!

HI Ryan. At the beginning of the video Damo's mom and many of the family had a bit of an assembly line with food with the garlic and other vegetables and spices. Was this for canning or communal food, etc.? I also like the slow motion bits. Cheers from the North. The other day it was -24C here in my part of Canada.
