I'd go for either the Hudson Hornet or the Cadillac Eldorado of that same time (1954 I think it was) If Chevrolet would've been constant with the Corvette since the C1 right now we would have a competitor for the BMW Z4 and not the sports we know and like. The Corvettes have been incredibly inconsistent. If all the Corvettes had been like the C2 the modern Corvette would be like a Viper from the 90s (sports-looking muscle car). It's not until the C4 when Corvette settled for a car type and it has been evolving ever since (C5, C6 and now C7)

Looks nice but, I would NOT like to go 80 mph in it. In terms of having a moderate accident, this car is a death trap (and don't start with the close minded argument of 'oh but old cars are as strong as titanium and would crush any wimpy "plastic car").
@splewy9 жыл бұрын
So true. The IIHS proved just how unsafe the old cars were with their 59 Bel Air vs 09 Malibu crash test. Sadly, the butthurt retards of the Internet are still claiming that that crash test was some rigged conspiracy, even years after all the ridiculous conspiracies have been debunked. I like how everyone is an armchair engineer when it comes to cars.
@wolfsatyr9 жыл бұрын
splewy I'm gonna be an armchair engineer and say that GM products of the time may have been worse than other cars on the road at the time, but that's only because I ran a '63 Falcon into a tree once at 30 mph. Brake failure. Also what I just said points out the big flaw in safety standards at the time, which was there weren't any.
@splewy9 жыл бұрын
Sofar2 Yeah, good point about safety standards. Some old cars *might* have been safer than others, but there's no way of really knowing which ones. At least now there are crash tests and safety standards that guarantee that just about any new car you buy will do a pretty good job at protecting you in any kind of accident.

They can be sleek low and slow, and yet still heavy hitting bad ass power machines. They have down the cool, the bad ass, and yet classy and inviting design hints all over. Harley Earl really liked the chrome and the baroque shapes. Note the chrome around the windows inside and chrome headliner bars. Not to mention of course the whole dashboard. Solid heavy chrome plated cast metal. A stock Olds V8 with original style mufflers would not be nearly so thumpy and loud inside.

I like the vacuum wipers on my Lincoln though :(

The gauge on the steering column looks like it uses the same stamped piece of metal on the front as the rear taillight & blackout marker covers on american tanks of the same era (they probably had a surplus or didn't want to re-tool)

I love regular car reviews but I wish you did more "regular" cars. Like some civic hatchbacks, preludes, accords, DEL SOL! Just some bone stock regular cars. Suvs, hatchback, sedans, just forgotten cars
