There are basically no standards for scrutiny when a claim is made about North Korea, you can say almost anything and people will believe it. Media Coverage of North Korea is overwhelmingly what is referred to as "Yellow Journalism" so you really shouldn't believe anything this guy says.

We also don't really know what's going on in the DPRK, because the only newspaper reporting these things about the north is Radio Free Asia, which is funded by the US government. Also, defectors are - not directly - forced to say things about North Korea which may or may not be true. And because with shocking stories like "North Koreans can't smile for 10 days before Kim Il Sung's memorial"(2021) they can catch the viewers/readers attention, other news sites share those stories too. What really happened, is that in 2014, at the 20th anniversary of Kim Il Sung's death, they were organising various mourning events for 10 days in workplaces and schools, etc. So yeah, I'm not saying everything they say is false, but be sceptical about everything published in the media.

There's someone at my school so determined to go to North Korea. If she meets her destination she'll most likely regret she's ever made that wish. I feel terrible for the innocent people in North Korea having to go through such trama & tragic events. Out of all things that aren't fair and should be desperately fixed, this is definitely one of the problems. All I can do much is to speak in the positive, and I do wish to all the people who are trying there very hardest to escape end up meeting that goal. 🙏
