I did a walk study a year ago for speed, they put a robotic machine around my hips and they turned the speed up and down with a laptop. They had me walking with no assistance up and down a long hallway, it lasted for 1 hour each session. A few of the sessions just focused on turning corners in both directions, also for speed. This study lasted for 3 months. The machine was way too heavy, I probably wouldn't use it personally, but it was something cool to try, and it kept me busy. I'm now 2 years post, I've come a long way and started out with many of the exercises in this video and it wasn't easy, it took months of practice and there was a lot of frustration. I can one leg stand for a longer period of time and walk longer distances. I usually put a stepping stool under my involved leg and just stand on my uninvolved leg to start. I do this everyday and walk on my knees on a mat, this helps me to stay centered and helps with my gait. Yesterday I walked up a few stairs without holding on, it was a very good day for me. I didn't even think about it. My wife was so happy. My family was told that walking for me wouldn't be likely after I had my stroke. It was very bad for me in the beginning. Don't give up, keep fighting.

Your post is exactly what I needed to read today. I’m feeling very frustrated, but I know I need to keep going. It’s been a year and a half since the stroke.Your post was the kick in the butt I needed today

Thank you so much for sharing the above. I am sure this will help me a lot. If I am advised to wear braces. Please suggest what kind of.

5:30 I accepted that single leg standing was obviously needed for walking, but this midline explanation clarifies the reason.👍

According to the advice from older videos, I stretch my ankle every time I walk on a curb and that helps. When I walk longer than usual, I notice the irregularity and asymmetry of the step length, after stretching it improves, I notice an increasingly long-lasting effect, you just have to be persistent. Thanks for the advice, have a nice week.

I find all of your videos to be very helpful but it will be even better if you actually had a stroke patient to really demonstrate how to do these things with core instability or with hemiparesis.
