This is the best tutorial I've found yet on this-I learned from an instructor, & he was great, but I didn't have it down quite yet. Lol also, he said make a snowman, put a scarf on it & put a carrot in it's nose as far as starting it-I liked your killing the ghost better😂

Again, multiple ways to do something, but helpful. I tie a scarf around the snowman (grandma ....) and poke them in the eye.

I have a learning disability and this video was so easy for me to learn and I finally got my figure 8
@myfreestylebmx14 жыл бұрын
Several questions: 1: Why through the hard points and not the webbing loop? 2: Whats the benefits of this method over tying a figure 8 into your rope and clipping with a carabiner? Also excellent video / presentation, keep up the great work!!
@tomsalerno10644 жыл бұрын
1: You want to reduce wear on the belay loop because it generally isn't reinforced as much as the hard points are because it is made to be used with carabiners. Also, tying into both hard points makes it more redundant (even though it is still one strand of rope going through them). 2: A carabiner can cross load when the rope moves around and could break in a big fall. It just has more places to fail When tying the figure 8 follow through and really any knot for that matter, make sure it is very tight (tighter than she made it in the video). If it is loose it is actually harder to untie after it is loaded because it loads weird. Here is a great video explaining and proving it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3LVXqh-mZ2bbtE

Is there a standard for which hard point you run the rope through first? Bottom then top or top then bottom? or does it not matter?

i've never seen the figure 8 taught that way. i always just taught people to twist twice. twist once for overhand knot, twice for figure 8. pretty simple

Is there anyway to tell me how to tie a figure 8 your way I'm interested? The angela jones
@masongreen54502 жыл бұрын
I don't know why or how but for the life of me I cant figure out how she's making this knot. at one point I have my figure 8 is correctly tied and then the camera flips to show how she ties it into her harness and she has her figure 8 tied completely flipped and a different way. Am I the only one getting confused or is it just my lack of knowledge holding me behind? I've watched this video like 10 times now and I still don't understand why her figure 8 looks different when the camera cuts to show how to tie into the harness.

I feel it a bit troublesome that this is filmed from the vantage point that it is. On top of that, it is filmed too fast. What the producers of this video should comprehend is... Is that most novices need to see this from the first person perspective. Like, from behind the person who is tying the Knots. It is super hard to recreate these knots by viewing the knots being done from the filmed perspective. Hey, ya wanna be seen in a video, cool. But if you want to help new climbers, reverse the camera position so it is not confusing. Slow down the video for new climbers and also be humble enough to not be completely seen in the video. Like, focus on the knots from the knot makers' perspective. There are plenty of knitting videos where they understand how to gently help new knitters learn in slow motion from a first-person view. Try putting yourself in a person's shoes, who is starting from scratch. Thanks.

Stopper knot fail!
@TknJn25 күн бұрын
yup! after dressing and cinching the figure of eight (fig8) start the stopper gapped away from the fig8. wrap back towards the fig8 (2 turns min) thread through the inside of the wraps (away from the fig8) nb: no "crossing strand" on the outside of the stopper. squeeze the slack out of the knot & tease it back towards the fig8 so it butts up. 3 wraps ok, 4&more? should prolly retie/move rope thru. 100mm/4 fingers tail after both are dressed & cinched. a clear video is better than a pile of words! :-j
