During the 2016 Republican primary race, I could never understand who these donors were that funded Jeb Bush's primary campaign. Jeb was very talented but a horribly flawed candidate that could never win an general election. Jeb sucked up all the oxygen and donors, preventing real contenders like Chris Christie. And in 2024, the same thing occurs again where foolish donors line up behind an 80+ yr old candidate that barely won more than coinflip in 2020 during the middle of covid. There is no way an 80 yr old candidate is ever a good bet for president. Stupid donors ruin this country by enabling weak opponents that cause Trump victories.

He likely loses in a landslide if he stays in. edit: based on all reports, every single furious argument he's getting into with other democrats is about his feelings and feeling betrayed, etc., and nothing about what's best for the country. This is very alarming. It's a man who does not want to do the right thing.

We can debate on how good the Biden administration's accomplishments are. I think they're pretty good, but I'm not as bullish as the pro-Biden-no-matter-what crowd... but it's just not relevant to whether he can win the race; his mental state and energy are. Even my state (VA) is arguably a swing state now. Biden probably needs to be up +5 or even +10 nationally to compete in the electoral college. The numbers just aren't there. Even Biden saying "I don't believe these polls" in the ABC interview is awfully reminiscent of Trump saying "fake news." Not nearly as bad as Trump's attitude in 2020, but this is a man who is refusing as much as possible to let go of power. Let's just realize this is a man who has been running for this job for the past 36 years. There is an ego involved.

AI is coming, and it will change everything, but I suspect that due to the issues in the supply chain with the highest end chips. We will not see fruition on the timeline that these valuations are promising/expecting. I don't think it is a bubble that will pop, but I think there will be a large consolidation initially and a cold winter of sorts that thins the heard substantially before it starts to take hold properly and turn into actual profit rather than bottomless investment.

I think Reid diminishes his case by using so much hyperbole. Right off the bat, he says “Trump doesn’t care about the country.” This feels like a super naive take. Trump is a billionaire, he’s already been president, and only entered politics in the twilight of his career. Not to mention, he’s still fighting despite the opposition trying to jail him AND an assassination attempt. So by all means go after his style or policies.
