You should use bombs instead of ballast and throw them at an actual castle. I would love to see that.

The problem with that is, as shown in the bomb engine video he made a while back, bombs kinda explode a lot when you don't want them to :/

Pretty sure the weight side (the one with all the ballasts) is supposed to be 1/4 the sling side, just as a general rule for all trebuchets

I love Trebuchets, it's such an underated war tool. It's extremely simple to wrap your head around it and it performs like a beast. Seeing it in action is super satisfying too, how the individual rotations culminate in a extremely fast moving projectile and then recoil from the heavy weight swinging back and forth.

The trebuchet moves during launch. It means that some of the kinetic energy is wasted, which is obviously not good. I believe that making the arm longer would fix the problem, but still, great contraption ^^

Watching this reminded me of something Tom Stanton did. He built a rather interestingly designed trebuchet. Honestly I don’t know how to describe it (it’s called a whipper arm trebuchet) but if you want to look it up the vids name is: Optimizing a Trebuchet by the channel: Tom Stanton I think it would be cool to try and design something in besiege using the ballast trick he used. Hope you don’t mind me sharing a vid name in your comments.

Seeing how the cart moves when the trebuchet swing, can you make a vehicle that moves with a repeated swing like that?
@Crazyclay78YT2 жыл бұрын
I don't really know how you would do it effectively, since the swings cancel each other out, i can only imagine applying breaks when it starts swinging in the direction you don't want to go and then releasing when its going the right way, but it wouldn't be very effective
@mute10852 жыл бұрын
It is possible (at least in reality, don't know if Besiege physics are accurate enough for that), but it would be probably very slow. Basically, you need to swing fast in one direction, and then return sloowly back.
