I LOVE hoodies for concealed carry. Tuck my shirt between me and the appendix carried 1911, and have a hoodie over. Not only does a light hoodie allow me to conceal a full sized service pistol, but it allows me to place my left hand in that front hoodie pocket, and easily lift up to get my concealing garment about a foot clear of my gun for my right to grab with no chance of snagging.

Big distinction between stopping the threat and killing, though. You can shoot a person until they are no longer a threat. Even if they are still alive. That doesn’t mean you can execute them when they’re on the ground. This especially applies to handguns. 6/7 people survive being shot with handguns.

Hey!, I know this has nothing to do with this video and I apologize for that. so I’m new to the AR platform. Yesterday I had a fired round get stuck in the chamber. I was unable to tap it out so I kept the cleaning rod in the barrel and turned it upside down and slammed it against the ground and it came out. It fired a full mag after that without issue. Any chances I messed up the rifling or chamber by doing that? Thanks in advanced!!

Youd be surprised. I've seen so many people have buttery smooth draws, and for years they ha e never picked up speed. They are so wrapped up in "slow is smooth" and perfect technique that they never learn to get the damn gun out fast.

What I am suggesting, is that when you know you have an efficient technique, you need to make a conscious effort and use deliberate practice to increase your speed.

@@JoshBenware Lol no kidding! It has been my experience that most people who regurgitate that "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" statement in a comment section have no idea how fast they actually are. They are also probably the type of shooter who is not training to high standards by using objective metrics. It's just something cute they like to throw around wherever they can. If you want to throw around a short quote that better describes the principal we are talking about, then use Scott Jedlinski's "Speed comes from efficiency, comes from technique." I prefer that one much more.

100% agree about proper technique being key. I've never taken formal pistol or fighting rifle courses but I do what I can in dry fire from what I pick up through social media. I taught myself to play ice hockey so I'm applying the same thing to self defense with a firearm. I have practiced my draw endlessly and when I had a car driving towards me in a parking lot after hitting me while I used the crosswalk I executed a perfect draw and shouted clear and concise commands. The driver and passenger were scared out of their minds when they saw I wasn't an unarmed victim and they listened to my commands when I told them to leave. Then I continued on my journey for mac N cheese before walking home.....

The advantage of having training is to know the legal aspects as well. If your story is true, then pointing a gun at someone in another car was not only a crime, but you also failed to report an accident, you failed to report the supposed attack against you and you failed to get legal help.

Rich J You can still practice presentations from the ready on a timer and adjust par times accordingly. You can even adapt the ready position to include creation of your master freestyle grip. You can practice your draw with dry fire at home. I highly recommend finding a local competition (USPSA/IDPA/Steel Challenge) that will let you get full reps from the holster, but practicing the components of the draw, as allowed by the range and your situation, is better than nothing.

How about starting from a position 2, arms tucked, pistol at mid chest, and practice from there.. Present and aquire sights, fire shots.. I did this for awhile before I got a "holster" card from my local indoor... Can't wait for winter to be over and start going back outside though

You can practice dry fire draws from the holster at home. MAKE SURE THE GUN IS EMPTY. I shouldn't have to say that but there are stupid people out there.

" I don't care how many theoretical gun fights you've been in"..... That's one of the reasons I have notifications on for his channel. He has great resolve, and takes self defence seriously, as it should be. Thank God, I've never really been in a "gun fight", but I have had two pretty negative experiences involving idiots with guns. At around 16 yrs old, my hoodlum friends and I (actually really good guys and girls), were in the far corner of our small town's video arcade/game room one Saturday night playing pinball (it was the 80's), when our friend Michelle's drunk dad walked in with a nickel-plated revolver in his hand, intent on carrying Michelle home..... by any means necessary. He was huge, mean, and armed.... I was skinny, a little high, and scared as hell. None of us even saw him walk in (sort of dark), much less the gun in his hand, and bam, just like that, he walked passed us, was in her face, and had the pistol pointed directly at her temple, demanding she leave with him. She was crying and calling him crazy (for obvious reasons), and he was explaining to her why she was trash. There were 5 or 6 of us kids in all, and we were frozen solid. His rage was building by the second, and I was convinced she would die. He was facing away. I got tunnel vision, ran straight towards him and jumped (surprisingly high) on his back, wrapping my legs around his chest, interlocking my feet. I grabbed the barrel of the gun, pulling his arm out and away, and (at some point) had my left arm wrapped around his neck, like a choke hold, as he tried heard just to stay vertical. He was REALLY drunk, so this wasn't AS hard of a fight as it could have been.... he would've killed me sober. It was at this point, that the tunnel vision disappeared, and the fear of riding this crazy man with his gun in OUR hands made me yell "get the gun, get the fucking gun!!" After what seemed like an hour, my buddy Brian (Mitchell's boyfriend) got both hands on it also, and I let go of his neck and helped Brian twist the gun from his hand as all three of us fell. He went to jail (dead now), Michelle eventually married Brian, and we're still friends to this day. Here's the other experience. In the late 90's, I moved a few hours away to Charlotte N.C. after marrying the wrong girl. It was there that I solicited a pool deck rebuild job from a gentleman who lived in my general area, which was middle class country. Meaning, I saw him, from the road, taking down his above-ground pools' decking. I pulled in, introduced myself, gave him my phone number, and offered to tear it all down for free, if he would hire me to build a new one. He half heartedly declined, and needing the work, I gave him what turned out to be, a way TOO good estimate on the price. He agreed and I went back that weekend and had the deck torn down in one day. During that day I was in his home a few times. I'd asked to use his restroom once (something I never do now), ate lunch with him and his teenage son in their kitchen, and (in small talk) asked the square footage of the house, so he showed me the rooms. That evening he asked if I would ride with him to Lowe's, to help pick out the wood for the deck... I said "sure". Somewhere on the beltline overlooking the city, he pulled off under an overpass, stuck a pistol (another revolver) in my face, and proceeded to tell me he had no drugs on his property. He was convinced I was working for the d.e.a., and was scoping his house! Nice area, but obviously he was involved in drug trafficking in some way. Sitting there in his truck, with a gun at my head, he said "you'd better do a good job convincing me your not d.e.a. or I'm going to fucking kill you." He meant it. I proceeded to rapid fire my whole life story to the guy, including the divorce I was in the middle of, and the debt I was accruing which led me to my "cold calling" type of solicitation of side work. He squinted his eyes, leaned in and quietly said "I'm pretty sure you're not a cop, but when we get back, I want your ass gone and if I ever see you again I'll kill ya''. The dysfunctional marriage, ongoing divorce, money trouble, and child custody battle had me in a very "beta-male" state of mind. My nerves were already shot, and now this. He never saw me again, and I'm back home where I should've stayed. I'm a much better/happier, spiritually fit man now, with a wife and daughter I'd readily die for. *Lastly, shit gets real, real quick, so careful not to judge until you actually experience* .... ... He was "pretty sure" of my cop status for one reason. Ironically, my life was saved that night, not by fighting, but due to the enormous piss puddle in my blue jeans. Train often, and teach your family to be aware.
