An exciting rendition of "Anguilla" by the Harry Connick Jr orchestra.
Featuring solos by Craig Klein (trombone con plunger), Dan Miller (trumpet), Roger Ingram (trumpet), Ned Goold (tenor saxophone) and Connick himself at the piano.
Exciting big band jazz!

I had the pleasure of working with Dan Miller at the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival back in 2017. Very knowledgeable and a really nice guy. He was a powerhouse trumpet player. Rest easy, Dan. I’ll bet you’re playing those wonderful notes in heaven 🕊

This was the very first song I heard live by Harry and his band. It was 1990 if my memory is correct at the Seattle opera house. When I heard Roger and Dan take off on their trumpet solo it was a profound experience. I could say that it guided my short trumpeting career as a lead trumpeter. When I heard Roger I thought, That's the sound I want. Those were the chops to have. I've always loved Harry's music. I hardly listen to much else. However had it not been for Roger solo on this tune. I probably wouldn't have been such huge admirer of the work.

i was at Birdland in '92, Maynard was playing. First set was good. second set was Olympian. towards the end Maynard said he wanted to welcome and recognize three men that were present at a table to my right: Roger Ingram, Dan Miller and Lew Soloff (as an orchestral trombonist, I only recognized Miller from this very video-RIP) . I then realized that right in front of me, Ferguson was showing the "kids" the way it's done. Never forget it. Last time I heard him live.

Ahhh...the original Harry Connick band. How does HC Jr. know how to put together the best of the best and he's...24 years old? I saw this band twice - worth every penny. Saw Roger Ingram again with the Woody Herman band later (and originally, in 86). Shannon Powell on drums? You can catch him in New Orleans these days. Ben Wolfe on bass, right? Not sure what he's up to. Want to catch Mullins and Klein on trombone? Check out Bonerama. Great to see this. Thanks!

Gotta love the trombone solo! I guess this NOLA boy, growing up alongside the Marsalis genes, has the right stuff to assemble such an amazing group of musicians...

His father was a lawyer, a district attorney for New Orleans, as I recall.

Wrong! His real father appeared in show business under the stage name Frankie Vaughan. As Vaughan, he made the movie Let's Make Love with Yves Montand and Marilyn Monroe as well as The Great Escape, cut a few albums of songs and later owned a small record company which was bought out by Sony music. He then bought stock in Sony Pictures before they started making movies and the stock was cheap. That allowed his son, Harry Connick Jr, to have a film career. Nepotism, Steve! I don't know how they got the old DA from New Orleans to front as his father, but he certainly not his real father. Moreover, Connick Jr is not a native of New Orleans! He's from Weston, CT, where he attended public school from 1970-1982 and is pictured in all the Weston schools' yearbooks for that time. Why does he have to lie to the planet? I'm sorry you were so fooled by him!

I Smell Poop your a fucking idiot. Your secretly probably a disgruntled harry connick jr stalker. Funny because i was at At weston in those years, my kids live there now. Only ya know what? Harry wasnt. However i ended up buying a home in new cannan ct where Harry really lives with his family. I befriended him because we always ran into eachother at starbucks. Sorry for your "quest" hes from NOLA. His father was a DA and his mother (a jew) was a judge. So its time 4 you to probably stalk someone else. Harry ia happily married with kids. Im sure hes not gonna leave them for your stalker ass. Leave my friend alone

@@jackblue6659 Jack, You can lie as much as you're either paid to or you're a part of this fraud's family. I never stalked him I exposed him. I mean really? It's not like I sent somebody into his home, or mailed compromising material to targeted addresses in order to discredit him. So, Jack, what with you're having befriended him and all: Do you think all the years of psychiatric therapy have really and truly paid out of for Harry, especially pulling a whopping huge lie like his being a "native' of New Orleans. I've told who he was in reality in an open public forum. Don't you think that the folks in the entertainment industry know what a liar he is in addition to being a first class ass. Don't answer me back, my job is done. Keep on pretending whatever you wish. Better yet, cheer up and listen to some of his music. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

His real father is or was one of the bigwigs at Sony Music and a stockholder in Sony Pictures. That answers your question about his putting together such real artists to back up his phoney New Orleans biography.
