Every time Bash looks at Mary, you can see pure admiration in his eyes. Especially while she is dancing. I think that is why people have trouble choosing who they ship. While Francis claims ( and I do believe he does) he loves Mary, Bash doesn't have to, you can already see it.

+aProperWhovian I know I'm late, but I just got into the show - The way Bash looks at Mary is how all women want to be looked at. I totally agree with you when you said Bash loves Mary just by the way he looks at her. A valid point. They had connected right from the start. I never shipped Francis and Mary, idky. I love Francis though, I didn't mind them together, but I'd rather have her with Bash. Every single love interest in this show was ruined by the end of season 3. They really messed it all up. Mash went to the shits, but then I started routing for Bash and Kenna. Then they fucked that up too, my Bash was left heartbroken for the 2nd time. Now he's all up with this Delphine person, who I do not trust and frankly she scares the shit out of me. They ruined Greer and Leith's relationship (although Idk why, but I find myself shipping Leith and Claude) but still, Greith please. They are ruining Narcisse and Lola with his affair with Catherine. Ugh, why couldn't they just stick to Bash x Mary. OR Bash x Kenna, Mary X Francis. I'm surprised if you got onto the end of this paragraph, thanks for taking your time to read lol.

+Hatiah Begum I couldn't have agreed with this thought more. Started this show with shipping Mary & Bash and when the writers ruined that, I fell in love with Kenna & Bash's relationship(which honestly I didn't think I would since i couldn't stand Kenna in the beginning) Now these writers ruined even Mary & Francis by killing him( but that was bound to happen at some point) but also Lola & Narcisse. And who the hell is this Delphine chick, I don't understand her character &/or plot and seeing Bash with her makes me cringe.

Hatiah Begum well remember the reason why Bash and Mary were getting married was to save Francis from his fate. Nostradamus saw that he dies cos of Mary so when everyone learn the truth, Mary and Bash love was came into play. Obviously later on he believed that when he saw the future a bit different he thought Francis would no longer die but later revealed that the vision that was shown showed later on his fate and realised he made a mistake. But because Catherine and Mary's mother plotted together to stop them, they brought the death of Francis and ruined Bashs life

From the very beginning, you can't help but root for Bash. There's just something so much more alluring about him than Francis. Maybe its the forbidden factor, being the illegitimate son and the pagan background. (Yes the striking eyes help lol)

Yep. When it comes to 'historical' tv shows, I never assume they are accurate. For instance, in reality Francis was younger than Mary by a couple of years. I often find myself more curious about the reality though, after a show...
