Tbf the tournament arc only stopped 1 volume ago. Oddly enough, one volume right in the middle of the tournament arc (only indirectly tied in with the tournament) is actually one of the best volumes of the series and IMO one of the best ways to do flashbacks about a antagonist's history. And can we please not compare it to Harry Potter ;) Yes, HP is the most famous magic academy story in the world, but you would be closer to the truth if you said Spellblades is like a Lovecraftian story but magic is publically known and spellcasters rule the world.

I've sold way more people on this one via 'It's Harry Potter but good' Rewatched that not long ago and a lot of the background theming is similar. Except Seven Spellblades is a Revenge plot.

Reign of the Seven Spellblades is more akin to Battle Royale in a magic school (except there doesn’t have to be a single winner so everybody isn’t necessarily trying to kill every single other person - just some of them).

This a spin off, right? Haven't even read the LN yet, enjoyed the anime though, not confident there would be a second season for some reason. Is the LN still running? It kinda feels weird having spin offs when the main title not even sure of getting an ending. I think some other running titles also have spin offs.
