It wasnt by chance that halbrand appeared on that raft ,sauron didnt get stuck in the ocean untill the destruction of Numenor.the writers have messed with the timeline ,why did halbrand appear in the sundering seas? What happened that put him there?

I think all of these will be answered in season 2 as the showrunners and Charlie had mentioned. I guess the opening in season 2 will be the prologue on what happened after Melkor’s defeat and why on (middle) earth is Sauron on that raft. Seems like the showrunners indeed congested the timeline but hoping that moving forward it will be way better and coherent.

I read an interview that Charlie said we will know why he was on the raft come season 2. But this is my personal theory - since Sauron is not all knowing and during this time he really went adrift after the fall of Morgoth, I think he is going to Valinor to await his judgment (ties up with the repentant Sauron arc). However, a certain elf just happens to throw herself unto the sea and meets him and this presents a new opportunity. Both him and Gal are at their lowest when they met. I think their meeting is accidental, kinda ties up with “the sea is always right” but then everything from the moment he helped Galadriel and introduced himself as Halbrand he has already conned her. Another theory is that he just really wants to go to Numenor and start afresh, eat snails, buy drinks for the citizens…

He seemed to have used his own judgement, in enacting the scene.. while Galadriel wasn’t convincing at all as a grieving elf who suddenly finds out the murderer she was looking for, is the same guy she was sympathising with all along. Her reaction to the reveal was rather cold🥴

i feel so bad for these two. Morfydd was really, really good in Saint Maud, so I think she must have been under horrible external pressure while filming this, because her performance is for the most part really stilted and the lines they foist upon her are some of the worst dialogue i've ever heard in film/TV. at least Halbrand is allowed more nuance and room to do something interesting with, and Charlie makes the most of a bad situation. Yeah I totally understand you. This is why I am hoping they’d get better material come season 2 - akin to the finale. We need to have epic lines like “I have been awake since the breaking of the first silence.” I also cant blame Morfydd with those lines she was given and kinda feel bad that some people think it is all her fault. An actor/actress can only do so much. Whoever wrote the script needs to do the assignment this season 2. As for Charlie agree with you he had more room to play his character. I also think it is because Morfydd played Galadriel as a really stubborn and not relatable elf (which is a fair portrayal given this is early stages Galadriel and she is cold) while Halbrand/Sauron is the charismatic, level-headed “human”. And people warm up to that kind of character quickly.

I don't know about other fans, but i liked Galadriel character since season 1. Maybe because her journey was realistic and she was allowed to have negative traits and make mistakes.Which is a uncommon trope in writing female protagonists these days. Besides not all of the elves are angles in Tolkien stories.​@NinaC
