Name changes midstream can be awkward. There was a Canadian band that held a contest to name the band. Until the name was chosen they toured as 'Guess Who'. Yep, the name stuck. An American folk-rock singer was strongly advised to change his bland last name. As he got famous he got the power to change it back. Hence three albums featuring, in order - 'John Cougar', 'John Cougar Mellencamp' and finally, 'John Mellencamp'. Best was the musician who - due to litigation - changed his name to a runic symbol. Papers called him 'the artist formerly known as Prince'. Quite the club you've joined, Elle.😊

Elle ! Lovely. In my 30's I changed my name so I know what it's like being referred to as something different. (LMK if you have questions!) Changing your name reflects a new beginning and it's really cool. In ancient (biblical) times it was done regularly, usually for good reasons - so, there is nothing odd about it to me. In fact, it's a "positive" change and it's fantastic for many reasons. I do find it "funny" - in my personal life - many people understood it, and/or embraced it - but, many thought it was "weird" or "dumb" and other negative things. People can be interesting, that's for sure. BLESS YOU ELLE AND THANKS for putting your music and yourself out there for all of us to enjoy. I have adored you and your peeps for years now!!!

Elle, happy to know you in this configuration. On my 21st birthday, I got a 3 x 5 file card from my grandfather. He was a truly unique character and played a major role in how I choose to leive may life. Her is what the card said. ""Jeff: Wanted to send you a birthday card but forgot to pick one up so this will have. to do. On your 21st birthday, my advice to you is never be afraid to look another man in the eye and tell him the truth." That line of advice has proved its value over the years. This is the exact opposite of what normally is shown on KZbin and it makes me so serenely happy. The fact that she said that she felt with her more intimate work that it drew her to her real name, and that it lead to her eventually embracing that side of her in her creative endeavors as a whole really struck a chord with me. I’m sure if her parents knew that embracing the name they gave her, out of the love they had for her since her birth, became a source of deepening her artistry in all her creative endeavors, it would especially moving to them. They’d be smiling the warmest smile, and would feel an interior affirmation that the life they gave their daughter is inseparable from the meaning they find in life in general.

Young / old; tall / short are really relative terms depending on our own position in the scale. So he's right - and so are you. For the record, she is aged about 35 (2003) I believe, so if there is an absolute scale in human longevity, I suppose she is early middle-age but she's young to me and old to you and always will be. Hello from Cordoba in the great state of Veracruz, Mexico. I've been in love with you and your music and poetry since Library Girl. The recent space and Star Trek rap is great. I still have trouble envisioning you in LA. I grew up in Southern California listening to Merle Travis, Joe Maphis and the Collins Kids, but the environmental deterioration was so severe by 1964 that I left and never returned.
