In this concluding installment of the series, we explore the intriguing mechanisms of reincarnation and look at specific examples from Cain and Abel, Moses and Jethro, Balaam, Terach, Job, Deborah, Tamar, and others. Also, can a male soul reincarnate in a female body, or vice versa? And how many total souls are meant to exist across all time? Plus: What is a dybbuk and does Judaism have a notion of “exorcism”? Who did Cain and Abel marry? And did God make other humans besides Adam and Eve?

Thank you so much, kvodo Rav! Question: It’s known that some genetically modified foods create health problems. Example: so many people, developed multiple diseases, not limited by Cron’s syndrome, due to gluten intolerance. If the synthetic meat is created in lab from one cell, even if the genes were not modified, still that so called meat will consist of only muscle cells and won’t have the connective tissue of multiple capillaries, won’t have collagen of ligaments and bone and so on. Human body utilizes the entire plethora of naturally produced meat. Won’t the synthetic meat cause a new form of health problems? Asking you as a biochemist as well:)

@EfraimPalvanov 2 ай бұрын
@@vsebudethorosho647 It will definitely take time to perfect the process but I think eventually scientists will figure out how to make it healthy and nutritious, without side-effects. Keep in mind that animal meat nowadays is not so healthy either, with the animals typically raised in unnatural conditions, injected with hormones and antibiotics, given feed that is contrary to their natural diet, etc. One could argue that lab-grown meat will be healthier than today's industrial meat.

Entity attachments are actually more common than we think. People can get them visiting cemeteries, getting drunk, being in the hospital. Souls who dont cross over need a host body. I know of quite a number of cases of people “bothered” by these souls. Theres a book “The Unquiet Dead” about a therapist who discovered that some her patients had this issue and when removed many of their sudden issues disappeared.

So…. does this means there is a good reason to believe in the legends about the Pre-Adamic people and civilization? But then… what happened to them? Were they still around before the flood? And I have understood that the mission of Adam was to rectify the chaos of the pre-Adamites. But what is there to rectify if the pre-Adamites don’t have a Adamic soul anyway?? Another question is, what happened to those who were mingle with the angels? Are these mixed ones still around?? So many questions. But thank you Rabbi, you are of the very few rabbis that explains everything very clearly.

It seems to be a serious misunderstanding. Olam Haba will be here, but Gan Eden and Gehenom are in the afterlife (seven different sections, the last one called tachtit haaretz which is eternal). Ramban said a moment in Gehenom is worse than 70 years of Yob's sufferings on earth.

Respectfully, The Gemara describes things such as green fire, and other otherworldly phenomena. As well as sources saying 7 levels of gehenom with the exact names of certain angels in charge of each level and what goes on there.And How Yeshu is currently in a certain circumstance etc And many many other sources from our mesorah with details that speak of another realm- not this one. How can you discount all of that and simply say gehenim is just in this world? Furthermore the Ramchal and many other sages give a few reasons why suffering can happen here- and one of them yes , can be because of past lives but by no means does that mean here is gehenom. But by suffering here, one can ESCAPE the more painful suffering of gehenom. I would love to hear how one can justify ignoring all the sources that disagree with your/arizal’s assertion that hell is only on this physical world . Thank you!

As you know, Judaism is vast and contains many different views on just about every issue. Often these different views are completely at odds with each other. There is absolutely no way to reconcile all opinions literally. Our job, I believe, is to find the truest understanding of reality - one that makes the most sense and integrates the widest range of opinions and sources. That said, I believe that the version I tried to present over these three shiurim is the best way to integrate and understand the major sources, and I brought numerous supporting passages from Talmud, Midrash, Zohar, Arizal, etc. If you know of a better, more logical, more coherent, more consistent representation of reality based on our authentic ancient sources, please share it with me.
@Dextermoon1
@Dextermoon1 2 ай бұрын
@@EfraimPalvanovI appreciate your answer and the shiurim. Many perspectives I’ve never heard before. So thank you, and I hope to hear more. I will say on this topic that I believe mostly all mainstream Gedolim, be it ashkenaz or sfardi would disagree that Gehenom is simply in this physical world we are all in right now. I also believe sources that describe otherwise far outweigh this notion. But again, more strongly the fact that no Torah scholar or Gadol has written or spoken of such a thing (besides Arizal) should count for something, that this may be a suspicious hypothesis. And even concerning the Arizal, you yourself said here that many times Arizal’s opinion seems to be very hard to piece together /contradict itself because of our limited documentation of what he actually said etc.. In conclusion, this all seems to be very shaky ground to rest on. Thank you Rabbi 🙏🏻

Enjoying this series very much. Would it be possible to pass a 🎤 around when students interject with questions or statements? Secondly, how does going to sleep connect to death? What details can you share regarding what happens when we sleep? Our soul takes up a report to the heavenly court and the body is 1/60th dead…is that correct? Lastly, how does atonement fit into this discussion of reincarnation? For example, when a person dies and he did teshuvah, there seems to be certain sins that a soul cannot get around going to Gehinnom even after doing teshuvah such as Chillul Hashem. So is Gehinnom a form of atonement? What are the various forms of atonement? Is donating to KIRUV a form of atonement? Does donating to KIRUV or other mitzvot really keep a soul from going to Gehinnom? Thank you
@EfraimPalvanov
@EfraimPalvanov 2 ай бұрын
The Talmud does state that sleep is a "sixtieth" of death, and dreams are a "sixtieth" of prophecy. The Zohar explains that much of the soul ascends Heavenward while a person sleeps (it seems the lowly nefesh remains in the body, otherwise the person would die). Genuine atonement can certainly clear a person's sins and remove the need for more reincarnations or Gehinnom. Planning to give a more detailed class on atonement in a couple of months, during the weeks leading up to Yom Kippur. In the meantime, you can check out a previous class on Yom Kippur which also discussed atonement: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2rNZ6Ownsqbi80

@EfraimPalvanov
@EfraimPalvanov 2 ай бұрын
My pleasure. Many say that extra fasting and physical penance is no longer necessary or effective in our generation. I'd say the best tikkun is accomplished through more Torah learning and observance of mitzvot, in addition to the three things we affirm in our High Holiday prayers: teshuva (repentance), tefilah (prayer), and tzedaka (charity).

Thank you Rabbi. Very informative. I also have some question, I heard that not everyone (soul) has a share of the world to come. I also heard from rabbis that there is written somewhere that all Israel has a share of the world to come, except these……a list of names. Can you give clarification on these matters?
@EfraimPalvanov
@EfraimPalvanov 2 ай бұрын
My pleasure! The tenth chapter of Sanhedrin goes into this at great length, you can read all about it there. Although included in the list of those who have no share is Bilaam, we see the Arizal tell us (as I quoted at the end of this video) that even Bilaam has a spark of holiness and will ultimately be rectified. So I think the best way to reconcile these matters is to that the Sages of the Mishnah and Talmud were saying those individuals - as they were in those particular lifetimes - were ineligible for the World to Come, but when they came back in future lifetimes and repaired their past sins, they did eventually rectify their souls and earn a place in the World to Come.

In "The Way of God," Moshe Chaim Luzzatto discusses the world of souls in the context of creation and the spiritual hierarchy. He describes the world of souls as a realm where souls exist prior to their incarnations in the physical world. This world is characterized by purity and closeness to God. Luzzatto explains that souls are created with a purpose and reflect various levels of spiritual elevation. He emphasizes the idea that the ultimate goal of a soul is to achieve closeness to God through fulfilling its purpose and engaging in spiritual growth during its earthly life. The experiences and challenges faced in the physical world are seen as opportunities for the soul to refine itself and grow. In summary, the world of souls serves as a foundational concept in Luzzatto's framework, illustrating the connection between the spiritual and physical realms and the journey of the soul toward divine fulfillment. @@pebystroll As an Arian Christian, we believe in the Jewish God as the supreme deity YHWH. We believe in Jesus as the SON of God, as a direct creation of God, has been the messiah for a few times, Moses, then King Hezekiah, then Jesus, reincarnating each time to fulfill a purpose. He, Jesus will return as Mashiach ben Yoseph. So people like the Catholics, who believe Jesus IS God, say we are heretical and going to hell, because we don't think Jesus is god, but Gods son. When Mashiach ben Yoseph returns, he will be the Christian Messiah as well, as he would be just another incarnation of THE Messiah. He will probly have a different name though, and won't remember who he has been till Armageddon starts, but that's just my personal idea. Sorry, I'm rambling now.

If cain and abel reincarnated, Adam likely did too.. hey maybe that Jesus fellow, was Adam,, I mean he did call himself "Son of Adam", and he did supposedly suffer on a cross to rectify the sins of the 'whole' of humanity,, wasn't it Adam who sinned and caused the fall of humanity in the first place. thus to rectify causing all humanity (which was in his bossom when he sinned) to fall he would likely have to rectify that sin corporately for all humanity too. I mean the christians say that JC died for the sins of the whole world, the only counterpart to that is Adam, whose sin caused the fall of the same world. The one is the rectification of the other . . of course that would not make JC the messiah, just a reincarnated Adam making rectification corporately for humanity (ie, his offspring).

The garden coud be Atlantis And i think i found it. Spéculation on god's Word ... Dont . Understanding how to follow the 10 Is vital to the soul . a single ray Makes mortal men respect and fear him . The light of our's atoms that makes our body is Blue print of god . We choose to return it or keep for eternal life .

Well, if we are serious about returning to the Garden of Eden - where Adam and Eve were vegan and there was clearly no animal slaughter or death of any kind - then it seems we will soon have to stop killing animals for meat!

A lot of speculation for this to even be possible, much less be realistic. This is certainly not what the Bible teaches.

Jesus is the messiah that everyone in Judaism is waiting for! He will return to earth to judge the living and the dead and to make a new heavenward and new earth , and also give us resurrected bodies
