What happens when you die? Is heaven real? What about reincarnation, NDE's, hell, and if the soul even exists?
Lots of people ask questions about these topics and wonder if they're compatible with Christianity.
(Spoiler alert... they're not.)
We have a conversation about these topics from a Biblical Christian worldview.
These are topics that Lee Strobel covers in his new book, "A Case for Heaven." I felt honored and humbled to be able to interview Lee about the book. I know this is a subject that many people, not just Christians, wonder about. You can expect the same journalistic approach that Lee takes in his numerous other books. This was a really fun conversation and hope you all are edified by it.

Hi Melissa! Thank you so much for all you do to prepare and produce this content. I have learned so much from your videos, and am excited to hear what Lee has been working on! I also truly appreciate you mentioning the potential issues for those of us with sound sensitivity issues (I have hyperacussis; extreme sound sensitivity after getting stuck standing under a blaring fire alarm in my apartment building 4 years ago.) I’m going to save the interview portion for later when I’m not wearing my noise cancelling headphones to block out the air conditioner! Thank you again. Wishing you and your loved ones safety, peace, and as much lighthearted laughter as you can get in these incredibly unpredictable and constantly changing times. 🙏🏼🇨🇦

My mother had a NDE. She had a terrible accident. She did not tell anyone except her husband for many years. A few years before she passed away permanently she publicly testified to her experience. I only knew of her to speak of it that one time. She passed away from cancer. Was sent home on hospice. Her attitude was one of looking forward to being with Jesus. Her experience strengthened her faith and she made some changes in how she lived.

This is honestly so similar to my story. I had a NDE and still find it hard to talk about. But I’m so excited to see Jesus and heaven in a permanent way rather than just hold onto the peace I felt in that experience. It’s very overwhelming to talk about though so I very rarely talk with others about it. It’s also very personal to my own faith in Jesus.

@@lionfrequency Wow, so you are saying that Christ is the devil! Mathew 11:14 “And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come” Mathew 17:10-13 The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?” 11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

One of the things God used to save me was the horrible expériences of NDE by people who came back screaming. A book about this came out in the 70s. My family talked about the beautiful experiences but I was shaken by the deeply disturbing cases that indicated the reality of a place corresponding to images of Hell. The people involved often forgot the "dark place" in the days that followed though they often remembered the light and corridor of the experience. I imagine this is due to the deep trauma of seeing Hell. The potential reality of Hell's existence set me on a path to find God simply because I wanted to be allowed entrance to Heaven. That led me to the joy and peace found in Jesus Christ. How gracious God is! Thank you for stirring up this subject again.

When I was a young child I believed I had lived a past life - I even talked about my "other mother" to my mom. I told my mom that my other mother from a past life died in a fire in a building (can't recall now but I think it was a church or barn, during roughly the 15th or 16th century I believe) and I watched upon a hill as the building succumbed to the flames and my "other mother" perished. That's all I can remember. So this "memory" supported me in my exploration of New Age beliefs and practices for years. I was convinced that this experience as a young child validated the notion of reincarnation. It took a long time for me to see the truth but when I got saved years ago I began to understand that the "memory" I saw from my past life was merely demonic influence trying to divert me from walking with Jesus (and for many years it did). I've experienced demonic dreams and attacks my whole life including my early childhood. I never stopped to think until I was saved that maybe the demons that frequented my dreams planted a dream in my subconscious to convince me it was a memory and that reincarnation was real. I had imaginary friends when I was little that conveniently had the same names as two of my dolls. Nearly two decades later I had a demonic dream where it was made clear that at least one of those dolls from childhood had a demonic influence or entity in it (that's what the dream suggested as I proceeded to exorcise the demon from it). Looking back, if the demons were able to attach to some of my belongings like my doll maybe they were the imaginary "friends" I had and if they could have that influence on me and my dreams why couldn't they convince me a dream about watching my "mother" die was a memory. Reincarnation is not real. Demons, however, are and they can convince people of many things that will distract them away from Jesus. Jesus is real and He has saved me from my demonic attacks - there is absolute authority and ultimate power in His name and blood. God bless my brothers and sisters in Christ.

A Case for Christ brought me back to Christ and made me embrace Christianity again. Excited for this book! And Melissa, I am also a former clinical hypnotherapist and did tons of past life regression work with my clients. I stopped doing the work and left the New Age when I was saved by Christ. I also did other work in hypnosis like having clients go to Heaven to meet with loved ones and edit their 'story' in the book of life, soul retrieval and spirit releasement. In know, totally awful! I did have many clients access lifetimes and actually find themselves in history and also access memories of family members they had no way on knowing. I have several thoughts on why they were able to do this and believe that much of it has to do with the works of Satan and his desire to lead people down the wrong path and away from the Lord. I am happy to talk to you about the past lives and that work when you start your research. Thanks for all the work you do! You and Doreen Virtue and your videos helped me so much when I left the New Age!

@Havyn Guy Just for clarification, Paul as the apostle to the Gentiles taught us much of what was revealed to him. As you read my comment in it’s entirety you will recognize that I do point to My Savior Jesus Christ as he is our Savior and the only way to salvation and relationship with Heavenly Father . Thank you for your comment. It allows me to give a clear explanation that I meant what was written and that I’m not deterred from my original statement.

@jen6741
@jen6741 2 жыл бұрын
@@jennifernelson83 The Bible is our guide and teacher. The Bible tells us what is important. Heavenly Father provided the word (Bible) to reveal his will to us and to help us. All things that Heavenly Father did not ordain for us to participate in or partake of is told to us through his divine word. He has not left anything to chance. To understand the differences between Godly pursuits and worldly ideals we must seek first the kingdom of Heaven , trusting as promised, that all things will be provided. Reading and studying the scripture is where you can learn that the Bible does explain what’s important and even warns us against things that separate us from his divine will. I know that if you seek him you will find what you truly need in scripture. Worldly ideals and things that refocus us from what Father wants for us has been done before and can appear to be seemingly innocent. The quoted scripture tells us that there isn’t anything new that has not already been tried or acted upon. Remember that a wise believer will let Heavenly Father direct their path and make changes where needed. Ecclesiastes 1:9 New International Version 9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. If he knows this then he has provided what you need. If you feel that you are missing an explanation, I want to encourage you not to give up. Pray for wisdom and it will be given to those who ask, freely. I hope I was able to give some clarity Jennifer. I will be praying that you get what you need to understand the Bible is our greatest resource and provides all we could ever need. Thanks for your comment.

Indeed, most intriguing. Either absolute proof or a big red flag, should it be true that "the dead know nothing" and so any "conscious awareness" is thanks solely to demonic assistance, for sake of promoting separation of body and spirit/soul. Visions received while alive can be much more instructive, when in harmony with the Bible.

This is a great scripture to consider; which is part of the dialog that Jesus had with Job - "Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? Or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?" Job 38:17

I Lost consciousness heartbeat and brain function for 20 minutes of my life and the one thing I learned from my experience is that when we die it's a new experience but I also learned that when I wanted to go to what I thought was heaven I woke up. This taught me that heaven is what we make it. Your friends your family and even the people that you don't like are all part of the same heaven that you live in right now. Be grateful for what you have. Be compassionate to others. Be mindful of your actions. Above all please be kind.

When my father who was more in between agnostic/ atheist died. He came to me when I was in a semi sleep stage. I couldn’t see him But heard his voice tell me. “Here where I am at is very dark and horrible, this is a very terrible place. “ Then 3 days later he came to me again and told me , “Here where I am Now it is very very beautiful and peaceful & My bones Do Not hurt anymore.” My father used to suffer from extreme rheumatoid arthritis.

My father had a NDE in bed. He was very ill and he too experienced a floating above his body, saw what my mother was doing and realized what was happening. He said he prayed the Lord would not take him home in this way just yet (he hadn’t taken the best care of himself). When he woke in his body, he said he saw my mother doing exactly what he had seen from above the room.

I've had a nde but it was hell instead of Heaven or nothing. I grew up Christian but slowly chose to backslide and choose the world and sin over Christ - but was still "holding onto Him" by mixing Christianity with new age beliefs and dismissing sins. It took a few months to turn from these false ways and embrace Christ fully, but what I seen still troubles me to this day. Thankfully Christ has accepted me back, but there's still struggles inside.
