One time about 30 years ago the Lord gave me a dream about my friend. She was going to have her gall bladder removed. I told her that she did not have gall stones anymore and not to have the surgery and to ask her doctor to do another sonogram. She did. Her doctor was very upset but did another sonogram and there were no gall stones. I was very new Christian but was so glad I spoke up. She did not have the surgery and her doctor was amazed. The Lord only used me in this way one time.

I've had a similar manipulation used on me when I was a young Believer. Jesus forces nothing- ever. Scriptural principles that are Biblical are being misused and things are being not done in faith. Stay in the Word and build your faith and remember all things are possible with God. All things are to be done for HIS glory. There's no 123 manual to have an easy life here on earth- expect persecution; the more you learn of Christ (study the Word alot!) and get to know His will and move in His gifts (HIS being key)the more one's faith grows. True signs and wonders will follow and God gets all the glory. I do understand the skepticism because there's so much deception and manipulation in today's churches. Sad 😢

When I was 16, I received a prophetic word that changed my life and healed me of the depression I was experiencing. I went to a church that was hosting a minister who would pray over individuals and, without knowing anything about them, speak scriptures that the Lord would give him for them. Before he started, he said, "I won't have time to pray over everyone here, so if you hear me say a verse that speaks to you and encourages you, receive it from the Lord." I was feeling hopeless about the future on account of my ASD, believing I had no choice but to live in isolation and dependency. When I heard him pray Jeremiah 29:11 over someone else, I thought, "Okay, God. I know it's trite, but I trust that You do know the plans You have for me. I receive this verse from You." Shortly after, the prophetic minister came up to me and asked if he could pray for me. The first verse he spoke over me was, guess what? Jeremiah 29:11! That was when I realized, "God, this is definitely from You!" The last verse he gave me was Psalm 84:11, which reads, "no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless." But from the way he said it, I knew God was speaking directly to me: "no good thing will _I_ withhold from _you."_ God used the words of this man to speak directly against the unspoken lie that I was believing that only He knew about. In that moment He gave me the confidence I needed to face life, knowing that being neurologically atypical does not make me a lesser recipient of His blessing.

That sort of phony stuff (slain in the spirit, tongues elitism, phony "prophetic utterances") gives such a bad name to the genuine that people throw out the baby with the bathwater. "He who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?" "Quench not the spirit. Despise not prophecies. Test all things; hold fast to that which is a good." As a good berean, doing all things decently and in order, with a view to edifying, etc.

The true f ith is spiritual and not carnal. Everything you see, hear, touch, taste, smell and reason is also carnal. When believers read the word they are reading THEIR opinions rather than the actual truth. The true word MUST be individually received from above and it must be received as perfect certainty or else it too will be an opinion. Certainty is not an opinion. Opinions can be ok temporarily but certainty is from above and is forever. Reasoning requires work but certainty requires belief in ☝️

Melissa and Allen thank you both from New Zealand God Richly bless you and your spouses here in new zealand, especially at my church we have in my worship team an obsession with Hillsong and Bethel and there are times in church when i do not sing the songs but just stand in the presences of God and I even pray for the worship team because since lockdown in 2020, i have watching Christian commentaries saying that bethel and Hillsong are dangerous and how there are some churches who have stopped using their music

Very well presented!! Loved the simplicity. I have always said that a truly smart individual can present the truth in terms that anyone can understand. From listening to this, I think that may have been accomplished in his book. I pray that the right people get their hands on a copy and God opens their eyes and they get set free!!! 🙏

I’m a cessationist, so I don’t always agree with Allen Parr on everything, but I appreciate this talk and I agree with you guys on the word of faith/name and claim it gospel.

Don’t take this the wrong way, I am just genuinely curious why people are cessationists.. it looks like lots of ex-new agers are of the cessationist “camp”. (Not saying you personally are) but it makes me wonder if it’s because of previous bad experiences with spirituality? I get the apprehension because we see so many churches abusing the Gifts.. But I don’t see any biblical justification for cessationism so far.. So just wondering what your reasons are if you are willing to share

This is so brilliant!!! I can relate to everything you are talking about...I was there!!! I almost married a guy because of people "prophesying" over the guy and I. Thank God we didn't get married and by the grace of God, I was led out of that church and have been on a journey of learning the TRUTH!!! Great discussion. Thank you Melissa and Pastor Allen. I love and am learning so much from both your channels. Blessings & greetings to you both in Jesus Christ from South Africa

The church in Canada is falling apart because it is not distinguishable from the rest of the world. We are trying to correct that course and bring the church back into sound biblical teaching. Thank you Allen and Melissa for your efforts!

I was not biblically literate when I came to faith. I attended, and was discipled in a charismatic church, and yet I can remember multiple doctrines taught to me where I had to stop and pause and recognize that what I was being told was not true. *Basically, the lens I have always used to view doctrine is, “Does this exalt Jesus, or is it exalting man?”* Gradually, the Lord led me out of the charismatic church - if for no other reason than the fact that that particular branch of the church has gotten very lukewarm in its seeker-sensitivity. Conversely, two of my best friends who have been walking with me through thick and thin, *who are biblically literate* absolutely refuse to acknowledge the garbage taught in the charismatic church. How does that happen?!

This is good. It reminds me of something my pastor says frequently: How do you interpret Scripture? With more Scripture. ❤

1."Progressive, Inclusive" to me means "anything goes". 2.Jesus spoke the universe into existence in Genesis. We, on the other hand, speak NOTHING into existence. 3. You cannot take and use a bible verse out of context without comparing the verse with other scripture to validate the verse in question.

Woa!! As I'm always either in a car or at a desk. I checked Audible and if you have an account, this book will be available 13 Jun 23. Books on tape have helped me continually study and grow. If sitting down and reading might be a struggle, we have another option. I have also listened to the entire Bible this way, Im not sure I would have been as diligent in reading it page by page. Fortunately there is many Bibles on tape and some are even provided for free. Take care all and God Bless.

As a christian you have an obligation to check everything up so it is in line with what is in the Bible. It is also of importance for every christian to read and study the Bible and take time in prayer to get to know the Lord Jesus.

I really like your level-headedness, both of you. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Use your noggin. AGAIN, i want tell people about my learning about all the “approval seeking things” i used to do. That IS the problem. Personally, i had to get AWAY from ALL the other teaching, study thoroughly, with 1 good commentary, and i also dealt with my need to to meet everybody’s approval, and bring them to the Word of God, and to Christ, in Truth, and in prayer, looking to the Word, w/Spirit for godly solutions. I don’t have that need so much any more.

Just as in the secular world, there are cliques and trends in the church. It's normal for people to want to "fit in". They look and see others who 'seem to be' having a real spiritual experience. It's natural to want this, too and to be considered part of the group. But some of these are pretending, too, for the same reasons. Some people authentically want to experience God and supernatural things, but this is not the right approach. The same thing happened in Jesus's day. There were people who hung around him b/c they liked the excitement and hoped to see a miracle. But Jesus did not entrust himself to them. It's not about the "stuff", it's about a Person! If "the stuff" is prioritized over the Person, the "stuff" becomes an idol. People are attracted to the "stuff", but not so much the Person. Some people eventually learn this and their hearts are softened and they turn away from the "stuff" to the Person of Christ. And begin to follow Him. Others simply drift away once boredom sets in. They will look for something else to entertain them. It's very sad.

In my old background, which taught me some good things, did teach positive vs. Negative believing, that to fear something would bring it into being - it was a LAW. But people fear lots of things that never come to pass.
