You need RPM signal to turn on the steering assist
@dadgarage79664 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was just thinking that. Although I thought it might be oil pressure but a tach signal makes more sense.
@christopherwedemeyer29934 ай бұрын
Not sure. My 2012 Mustang has power assist with the engine off, as long as the key is on. I've rolled down the driveway with the engine off many times and still had the assist working perfectly.

And sufficient battery voltage. My 2019 F150 battery gave it up and even after a jump the power steering didn't work. Swapped in a fresh battery and...bingo!

There should be a towing or recovery mode that turns it on. Most electric rack vehicles have that feature, though it's not widely advertised.

Most undervalued channel on KZbin without a doubt. You guys are talented and your enthusiasm is infectious. It is amazing what you guys have accomplished in such a short amount of time and without the tools and workspace that some other channels and OEM's have. Just mind-blowing.......When you guys were laying out your plan to stitch together a DOHC engine based on a single cam bottom end, I giggled to myself an said, "not a chance". I have never been so happy to be wrong. I just figured there was absolutely no way you would get those heads straight enough to keep the thing from grenading itself on first crank. I just cannot believe it. So freakin happy for you guys and sure hope Ford is watching. You guys have just proven the OEM are lazy in my humble opinion. Keep on swinging for the fences......!!!!

adding AC back in the car would really top off the stock look and feel of the interior and set you apart from all the other builds that ditch it imho. I've been following yall since you began this project and can't wait to see this thing cruising! keep up the amazing work yall!
@TheSunChaserUS4 ай бұрын
I think for their project the best would be an small electric compressor, and a bigger battery in the trunk, moving some weight to the back and keeping the engine without the drag of the compressor
@azurvul23204 ай бұрын
@@TheSunChaserUS drag on the engine is a none issue tbh. AC compressors are just an extra free-spinning pulley when they are off. but the electric compressor is a great idea considering the general lack of space under the hood. lol

Most EPAS vehicles wont power the electric assist until the vehicle has had the key on and engine running. Once the BCM senses that the engine has ran, it will allow electronic power assist. One additional consideration is the battery needs to be pretty healthy, as EPAS can have a pretty high amperage draw.
