I am 80. I am a fan since 1956. I lived in those times and saw how he changed music and culture. He broke racial barriers, he made gospel mainstream, he resurrected the corny guitar image. He made it cool. He changed fashion hairstyles. Few people know what humanitarian he was. He helped build the first wing of St. Judes hospital in Memphis, he bought FDR's yacht to give to Danny Thomas to be auctioned for LA wing of the hospital. He was the single largest donor to build the Pearl Harbor Memorial. He gave $100,000 to build a Jewish rec center for young children. He established the Memphis Trauma Center, And his wishes for a homeless center for women and children was carried out by Lisa Marie. And of course he gave away homes and cars to his fans. Thanks for this great special about the special.

Mary Jones, I didn't know how many things have Elvis done to help people with that clear exposition, I thank you very much because I'm 79 and have been his fan since I was 11, ! Many people have no idea about the things Elvis did to help people, and I believe he was the real first artist that changed music and world, more before that Beatles and Jackson, ! Greetings from Argentina! Elvis forever❤👍

Aloha from Hawai was also among these ones. 8 March 1961 Elvis was made Colonel of honor due to his generosity, the same day he asked Johnny Bragg who was in jail how he could help him. Elvis was really unique.

Elvis' success was in spite of Parker NOT because of him. In '68 Elvis looked other worldly and sang as well as he looked. No one before or since has reached such heights. They never will.

I watched Reinventing Elvis The 68 Comeback last night it is by far the greatest documentary ever I certainly will be adding the Blu Ray when it comes out to my music collection. Thank God Steve Binder supported Elvis from day one. It has been documented somewhere that Elvis had asked Col Parker that he wanted to work with Steve Binder again to make another TV Special but the Col always refused. Just imagine how great that would have been if Elvis had sacked his manager and taken control of his career with someone else to manage him.

incredible! It is people like Spencer, Steve, John and the rest of the pioneering cinema visionaries who colored the world with heart, life & sensitivity. I love what he said about the sociological importance of this Elvis special, back in the tumultuous 60's. The Dutch Carny manager was a putz. Good on them for getting over on him! It is open-minded, forward-thinking people like that who are the icons of tomorrow, for what they did with their talents throughout groundbreaking illustrious careers! We are fortunate to have benefitted by them. AMEN to TRUTH, brother!!

HI..Loved Reinventing Elvis!!! Been a fan since i was 8 in 56...just have to mention we flew down from BC Canada and met Elvis in 67 and 68...we were sent tickets to the stand up show 68 special by a girl that worked at RCA in L.A. (Linda Webster) i couldn't go as i was getting married in August and had no extra money to fly down again!...biggest regret of my life!! Brenda is on the cover of the 50th anniversary release!!! Got to see Elvis live 30 times 69 to 76!!! Best days of my life!! I also taped all the shows i saw 😅 a true fan and collector!!! 🥰🇨🇦

This is the best podcast I have seen in years. The streaming has gone up to #8 in the Paramount Plus movie chart. The only mistaje was thre guest saying Binder did the TAMI show 14 years before the 68 Spevial. It was 4 yerars before but other than that, top of the tops.

Because Parker was a user... For his own calculating Benefit.. He was doomed😢😢😢 the moment Parker spread his Web over The King. But in saying that.. As much as I DETEST parker, We may not have had Elvis without him.

Great video but disagree on bad movies and songs maybe a few but all soled more than major films me and many many like Elvis films and songs more so than many of the 70,s Elvis shows which were pretty much the same songs re sung over and over again sadly

Parker used Elvis. Any decent manager could have got Elvis the same or even better than Parker Elvis 's problem he was to honest and loyal.
