When I started to sing at the age of 15, the song "Anthem" from the musical "Chess" (originally sung by Tommy Körberg) was my first REAL goal.
I learned it and performed it at my school when we ended 9th grade infront of the whole school and from that day on this song has been very special to me.
Maybe one day I will upload that video - me, 15 years old, singing that song.

Well... if you bother to check what's produced on this channel, most is produced this year. It takes time to raise the level of subs but I would guess that the amount of subs are quickly rising. It would be beyond me, if his subs stays at steady 40k. But it wont. There are lots of far worse artists on KZbin with a lot more subs, so its only a matter of time. Though, some of the worse singers are quite funny to watch for other reasons. Being good at singing isn't the only thing important when it comes to satisfy subs.

I had bought the first 2 main singles from Chess back in 1984" One night in Bangonk"/"Know him so well" that also included the glorious instrumental CHESS THEME in 12 inch vynil and really love them till today.But wasn't so keen on "Anthem" back then.Now someone sent me this video and i revisited this song.And wow God!what have you done!You gave new life to it and shook me.Got wet eyes .Your wonderful performance is so vibrant that pierced right though me.Thank you.If Benny and Bjorn listen to that,I'm sure they will be very proud.

The song is great! Here in Germany, the musical is totally underrated, even though it refers to the Cold War and was therefore red-hot at the time. I don’t think anybody in the UK knows that “One night in Bangkok” is from a musical unless they saw the musical. I didn’t, and I’m 52, the 80’s were my formative years for music. Over the past few weeks, as I've immersed myself in his music, it has occurred to me that very, VERY few people ever know what it's like to be as talented on the guitar as Tommy. But it doesn't end there - he also plays piano and keyboards (I'm not sure about bass and/or drums?!), to say nothing of his ability to write and arrange. Oh, and he draws as well! Yet somehow, despite these many impressive talents, his ability to sing is even more impressive than any/all of the others. It is so exciting to hear you cover this! Chess is my favorite musical, and Anthem stirs my heart on so many ways. When the US was attacked in 2001, I played it for friends who didn't fathom that the victims were from many nations, not just ours. I was not familiar with Sabaton until Christmas Truce found me the day it was released. Now I am a rabid fan of the music and the history lessons. After the first few listens, I appreciated how much the stories touch all people, not any one country or political view. At that moment, I thought of Anthem and how Sweden must have a golden touch for this similar perspective to reach people from different sources. Your cover of Anthem is literally my dream come true.

Beautifully executed! You reminded me so much of Tommy Körberg, in the beginning just when Chess came out. He's always done it beautifully, but the first recording is magical - and this sounded just as magical. I wonder if you've ever heard Pity The Child sung by Anders Glenmark. He sang it on the "Från ABBA Till Duvemåla"-record. There are such beautiful chords and harmonies in it and it escalates to high notes at the end.
