I have been watching them now for over 60 years, ever since I entered A&M as a fish in 1961 (was in the Corps for my full 4 years) and am still amazed and never tire of watching them. There is one movement they only do once a year and that is at the final home game of the season. The movement is the four way cross. Find the video and try and figure out how they do that. The computer programs for marching bands gives an error message when they tried to use it to plot that out - there are times that two band members are occupying the same space - actually stepping between the legs of another band member.

Sorry, Tim, but Ohio State is the best marching unit I've ever seen. I'm a four year vet of the Marching Razorbacks. I enjoy seeing the Ags because they carry on old school 6 to 5 military marching. But it has too many simple countermarch and blockbuster moves to entertain over and over. I do like the marching at the oblique, which you never see anymore. And the Ags were never as repetitious as the Longhorn Band. Most college bands today imitate drum corps styles floating out on the field, marching a little here and there because they're too large to move much and doing mostly park and bark. I may be wrong, but didn't the Ags used to take the block T and drop off a second or phantom block T and then bring them back together?

You get out there and learn and memorize music and 415 different marching sets each game during the college football season and see if you call it boring. It takes real hard work and dedication to be in a high caliber band such as the FTAB.
@travisbrown63810 жыл бұрын
Slender Ginger Blah blah blah - Calm down, precious. My comments did not belittle the efforts of the band members or the work they put into the music or marching. I simply stated that it's the same thing, always. That's why it is boring. So, responding with "You get out there..." is pretty much an off-the-mark attack on me personally, and I did not attack anyone - just gave an opinion, countering others that are claiming this is the "best band in college" or the "best band in America." Bull. I am more entertained by a marching band that puts on a half time show of their talents that is different each game, or each year, than close quarters marching that never changes. And music that never changes. Check out the Ohio State marching band where they simulate Frankenstein walking, the drummer, the pinball machine, and the guitar player. That is not boring.

@elliotmayer81464 жыл бұрын
It's because historically the band writes their drills so that they take the maximum amount of time allotted, and don't leave any time for a slow march off, so everyone has to book it off the field as fast as they can.
