Rejoice, rejoice, O Bethany! On this day God came to thee, And in Him the dead are made alive, As it is right for He is the Life. When Martha went to receive Him, Grieving loudly with bitter tears, She poured out the sorrow of her heart to Him With great sadness, wailing her lament. She at once cried out unto Him: "My most compassionate Lord, my Lord, At the great loss of my brother Lazarus My heart is broken, help me." Jesus said to her, "Cease your weeping, Cease your grieving and sad lament; For your brother, My most beloved friend, Lazarus, Very soon will live again." Then He, the faithful Redeemer, Made His way unto the tomb, Where he cried unto him who was buried four days, Calling him forth, saying "Lazarus, arise." Come with haste, ye two sisters, And behold a wondrous thing, For your brother from the tomb has returned to life. To the beloved Redeemer now give thanks. To Thee, O Lord of creation, We kneel down in reverence profound, For all we who are dead in sin, In Thee, O Jesus, are made alive.

You could always take a look at the Orthodox Church in America. While it may fall under the category of "through a Russian Lens" (as it grew out of the Russian Church) it is an explicitly pan-ethnic Church, offering services exclusively in English and connecting itself to the Russian Missionaries in 18th century Alaska. Though there are some disputes about its autocephaly, it is nevertheless considered fully Orthodox and in communion with all other Orthodox Churches.

That is really the sad thing about your religion... you focus on the life AFTER this life... the only one you are guaranteed. Your wish for the vague promise of something after you die.. leads you to focus there... which means that you take this life here for granted... a place to wipe your feet, so to speak... so so sad... really.

Eastern Catholic Church came to be after massive war crimes against the Orthodox Church in 12/13th centuries, as Rome's attempt to replace the Orthodox Church. Monks were killed, People were killed, Orthodox patriarchs of Constantinople, Antioch , Jerusalem and Cypress were killed and driven away from their sees. Muslims were actually the liberators after the crusaders. We Orthodox don't like even to hear anything about Eastern Catholic (Byzantine Rite Catholic Church) ! Just to let you know, don't even mention damned imitators in front of the Orthodox Christians. In 1204 Crusaders sacked Constantinople, killed the Patriarch and enthroned the local prostitute at his place in attempt to humiliate the Orthodox Church, one of examples how Byzantine Rite Catholic Church or Eastern Catholic Church came to be.

Matthew 6:7 is the seventh verse of the sixth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament and is part of the Sermon on the Mount. This verse continues the discussion on the proper procedure for praying. In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. He gives the example of what is now called the Lord's prayer, but he abjures you from reciting repetitive prayer.. he wants heartfelt prayer...not rote repetition...

@@alahatzaifat1872 In the eastern scales system, each scale is consisted of two parts , the root and branch (that's what we call it in Arabic) and the name of the scale is named according to the name of the root (the last note of the musical piece must be first note of the root and we call it the base note). for example if your base note in this hymn is G then its root is : G A(b) B C (we call it Hijaz scale) its branch is : C D E(b) F (we call it Minor scale or Nahawand scale) and that's why you felt the presence of the minor scale because the minor scale is the secondary part of the whole scale. but since its root is Hijaz then, the whole scale is Hijaz

@geokonn Personally, I think it is better to chant hymns in the language of the people- so everyone can understand them. Otherwise, it is meaningless to them. I am grateful that there is Byzantine chant translated into my language so I can understand the theology. This is for the Glory of God, and for the conversion of hearts- not for your own personal sense of aesthetics. Think about it.

Here is the U.S. the Antiochian Orthodox Churches use English and mix in Arabic, Greek and Slavic at times as well. Indeed we use the primary language of the people so they hear the Gospel.

Ben Chernjavsky yes I'm sure your ethnic, geographically isolated, internal dispute ridden, loosely united churches that haven't had a functional council or any form of united government in over 1,000 years since the split are the one true church and pillars of Orthodoxy.

You encourage jealousy? How pious of you. The catholics shouldnt be jealous because we too have a great sense of unity, 1 billion people unites under one Holy Catholic Apostolic church.
When was “Rejoice oh Bethany” first sung is it ancient? I love that song its very eery and beautiful.
