By pre EU presumably you mean pre EEC, i.e. pre 1973? In 1967 the UK devalued the pound and even that did not solve the sick man of Europe's economic woes. I left the UK in 1970. EEC/EU membership improved things but it now looks like they are headed back to those "good old days" prior to EEC membership. Brexiteers have no need to worry but Rejoiners do because, for the foreseeable future the EU will do absolutely nothing to change the UK's 3rd country status. All the EU wants is that the UK fully complies with the current agreements, WA, NIP and TCA. BTW were you an adult in the UK prior to EEC membership?
