I don't care what anyone says, David, you are one HELL of a softball pitcher.

I think Tom Ricketts would be a good owner for a team like the Cincinnati Reds or Pittsburgh Pirates. I understand Kap is friends with Tom but my god these are some creampuff questions. Really disappointing but predictable.

Mr. Ricketts is starting to sound like the tribune company now. “ let’s be competitive” no talk of winning the World Series! How will you ever gain fans !

Kap gets more upset than anyone about this organization. So why didn't he hammer Ricketts about it. Unbelievable

You’re exactly right, Kap I’m not gonna watch no baseball this year. I’m protested against the Dodgers. They have a monopoly on the best players in baseball. I will never watch a baseball game. I’m done. MLB should step in. This is ridiculous. I only hope fans from other teams don’t support and watch the Dodgers when they come to their town

This interview confirmed everything i've speculated. Tom & family invested DOUBLE the amount they expected to. Now they are, at least, reinvesting into payroll as much as they can under the luxury tax -- BUT -- the problem is they have roster problems & Marquee SN ratings & cash revenue problems they have been caused by their lack of spending. The fans wanted and paid for & team needed Schwarber, Harper and later Ohtani & Soto. We got nothing. Prices went up, wins & ratings went down, and seems the FO & Ownership are "hoping" it changes itself. Ask Arte Moreno how that's worked out over the last 10-15 years with his Angels.

From us to him to players, bullshit. He's profiting plus the value increase of team. People that rich shouldn't exist

LMAO bullshit the $5 for a pepsi goes straight to the $20 million for a pitcher. Also lol at whining about how much a starting pitcher costs.

Tom wants to be the Dbacks so bad Kap basically asked him flat out if the goal was the WS & he said, no. The goal is to win the division or sneak in on a wild card. Dont think he realizes the Rangers WON that WS. & how'd they do that, Tom? On a hope that players outperform projections? Weak mindset imo Pay a Superstar. Do you not see what Sammy has done for this City? We dont care about wriglevile. We care about whats on the field sir

Every team has baseball ops cost, and yet the ones who want to win it all spend on and off the field, not to just stay competitive

This ain't Little League dude it costs money of which you have plenty of, I understand it's easy to spend other people's money but why did you buy the team if you're not going to win

If Tom simply let Jed go over the 1st lux tax level by 9-12 mil every other season and just under during the in between years, many fans would be much more understanding, bec it's a very reasonable request, and the team would win more games w that extra good bullpen arm.... BTW, 2 home playoff games is at least 10mil more revenue...
@timad1111 сағат бұрын
Its pretty obvious there were restrictions on this interview. Lots of stuff left out. Tom is intelligent. But a businessman first. Based on this and their actions, they are never going to be all in on winning.
@jasonvalencia856511 сағат бұрын
As of this recording they sit at $182 mil.. 13th in payroll. They charge the most of any team. You never win. Every year?? Gimme a break bozo

@mango89189 сағат бұрын
I enjoyed the interview, but he didn't say anything that I didn't expect. There was more discussion about Wrigleyville than about the team. There were no "we're going to do everything it takes to win" statements. I get the feeling that he's hoping to win the division but not spend like a Major Market team to get there. The Cubs were America's team when WGN broadcast the games nationwide. IMO, that loyalty and fanbase is dwindling.

Great interview. Ricketts has been an absolutely incredible owner. Best by miles for this organization. I did find it very funny how Mcguffy's bite goes completely away when he has to face Ricketts. Because he's a clown otherwise.

I’ve been watching the Cubs via MLB TV for years…maybe it’ll help the team if I switch to Marquee!! I never knew that was an option!!
@naturallawman296511 сағат бұрын
It's only an option IF you live within the Cubs viewing area in the greater Chicagoland & Illinois area. Outside of that, you're Blacked Out. I'm in Florida. I can subscribe to Marquee and watch their programming, but NOT Cubs games. I have to have MLBTV for that because you have to have an out-of-market package to do that. Yet... for years there was good 'ol WGN. 🙄

Seriously? The money goes "From you to me to them." You are a billionaire who gets big profits off us. You should be upgrading the neighborhood, increasing the payroll etc. Why do rich people always talk like they are doing us a favor? Your money comes from the customers and investors.
@jayarbetman187311 сағат бұрын
That was an excellent interview. Good work. For those of us who spent much of our formative years at Wrigley Field, and watching the games on 'GN, the current telecast is a tremendous letdown. Jack, Harry, Chip and Len were terrific. Some of the best voices in the game. Two of them in the HOF. The radio side is well maintained w/ HOF'er Pat Hughes. But TV is horrible. Boog is a disaster. I am not the only one with this opinion. JD used to be terrific with Len Kasper but looks and sounds less than thrilled. What gives? Why not a better broadcast.

And where did the Score radio postgame/call in show after Zack's wrap-up show go.... been gone for years and everyone had to wait until Grobber at midnight while the Score goes to National radio for the hour and a half when fans want to call in... what a joke that show went away about 4 years ago... is someone in the Cub organization trying to block post-game criticism when the irons are hot immediately after the game? .... bring back David Schuster to take calls from Score listeners after Zack's ( super commercial filled) wrap-up show is over and keep the fans interest alive nightly... what a short-sighted and stupid decision....

I subscribe to mlbtv and not Marquee because it is better, Tom. He never talks like he is all in.
