Kap gave the player of the game to Christopher Morel who hit a 420 foot home run. Kap says Counsell needs to keep running him out there. He turns 25 this week. He's still young, keep playing him and see what you have.

Going into the season this looked like a potential playoff team--not a great team but one that could finish a little above .500. But I think that without exception, every position player (except possibly Mike Tauchman) is significantly underperforming their 2023 numbers. How does that happen? You'd expect some guys to do better, some worse, and some about the same as they did in the prior season. It's not happening that way and, as a result, the Cubs are absolutely punchless.

The only time they score is with home runs.This is a really bad team.The starting pitching is OK but nobody else ie worth a damn.Morel is a great power hitter but is hitting .204.Hoerner is hitting about .235, Swanson is hitting .212.Happ is batting .235, Bellinger is maybe .260.Like I said this is a bad team.Unload much of the starting lineup but before you do dump Hoyer first.Do not let him make any more bad moves.He's done enough damage.

A 4-5 homestand against St. Louis, SF and NYM. Just piss poor, uninspiring baseball (aside from yesterday’s rare blowout win). This team hasn’t given the fans any reason to believe they can get on a nice run to get back to .500 and above. So, my guess is the fork will be officially stuck in this team by the end of the week. A four-game series at San Fran and a three-gamer at Milwaukee, where the Cubs always shit the bed. We’ll be lucky to win three games over those two series. #FiredJedHoyer

I noticed with the Cub play by play guy doing the game, I don't think the network lets them criticize the bad ball and strike calls by the home plate ump. On regular Cub broadcasts they are critical of the home plate umps all the time.

I didn't watch the game. This team is built around the RIckets family directive...much of it is marketing, not substance. For example, look at the farm team. All we hear about every year is how great the farm system is. That is a myth. This farm system hasn't produced an impact player for this team since Steele and maybe Nico Horner- that was 5 years ago. The later looks to be regressing. If I were Justin Steele or Shota Imanaga I would want out of Chicago as soon as possible. This team is costing them future value while racking up mileage on their arms. They are wasting their arms on a substandard roster that can not produce on a consistent basis. We saw the collapse of this team last year...and it's simply carried over to this year. For anyone that thought Craig Counsell was going to be impactful...you owe Rossy and appology. This team's performance is proof that he got railroaded. I wonder what Counsell would do right now to be back in Milwaukee? Probably not, this is probably his last hurrah and he's just going to milk it for a fat payday. He has to know by this time of the season that he's in a lost cause. Jed and Carter need to be fired and people need to stop going to the ballpark to watch this team. It's a waste of money. The Rickets family is selling "the experience" of Wriggley Field and its rich history...but they are ignoring the product on the field. This team sucks.
