Kedge Keep Bosses - Everquest Project 1999 Classic Server - Enchanter Solo Crawl

In this video, we head back into Kedge Keep and take on all the bosses that we can as a solo enchanter. Kedge is one of the toughest zones in the game especially in the classic era where our max lvl is 50 and our stats and tools are limited.
One of my favorite aspects about this dungeon is how empty it is. I'm often the only one in the zone and have all the mobs to myself. There's also a lot of money to be made farming these bosses since they drop good stuff that sells well in the classic era.
In the first 1 hour and 5 minutes of the video, I do more of a walk through and show you the kill rotation I like to do when farming the bosses here. The rest of the video consists of me soloing the bosses along with my tactics and strategies to make it happen.
We take out Undertow, Coralyn Kelpmaiden, the Fierce Impaler, the Seahorse Patriarch, the Frenzied Cauldron Shark, CauldronBubble, CauldronBoil, and make an attempt at Estrella of Gloomwater.

Great video and it’s great seeing what an enchanter can do with limited items. I have a 12 enchanter on green and I really want to start focusing on him, but I don’t have a ton of time to play... I may just have to love vicariously through you and your amazing crawls

at least with an enchanter, you can get some things done in relatively shorter time. YOu don't have to wait on groups to kill stuff and make money lol.

You have inspired me to create an Enchanter of my own. Not twinked much, outside of 'a crude stein' I found at a vendor. I still love it, though. The class typically scares me off, but after watching how you handle different situations, I feel I have a better grasp on what the class can do. My biggest hurdle right now is figuring out the best spell arrangement for each level.

Very impressive knowledge of such a complex zone! The three dimensional aspect of the zone and the prospect of a gnarly CR has always kept me too scared to try it much. I'll have to give it a go when I get high enough!

I definitely suggest it. it was one of my most hated zones until I figured it out. Now, it's one of my favorites haha. The CRs aren't too bad too since only a few mobs see through invis. Find your safe spots and it's all good. Better than CRs in places like solb or lguk even lol.

Those were some really good fights. I'm going to have to try some of the things you are doing. Enchanters are my go to class and I think I learn something new each time I play one. I have a few suggestions for you. There are a few items that might make it a bit easier for you. A Reaper of the Dead is a good item to get. It has 1 charge of complete heal on it and the quest to get it isn't hard, it just take a bit of time. Also, if you are having trouble with charm breaking you could give the charm pet a pair of rusty spike shoulders, drops of the gnoll commander in black borrow. It has -10MR on it. Also you could get a pair of adamantite band's that drop off the hand in LGuk. Those also have a -10MR buff on them. With all three items that you have given to the pet it's a total of -30 MR on top of tash. The only thing is, you have to kill the pet to get the stuff back. Happy hunting.

haha i was the same way honestly. it wasn't until i started these crawls that I decided to learn kedge. It's pretty simple stuff once you get used to the underwater mechanics. Druid/enchnater combo would wreck the place.

kudos for showing how the game is really played. most people crawling kedge with an enchanter, solo, on classic, would only show us the fights that went well. but, lets face it, any eq player knows... thats not always how things go lol

Returning player here leveling a High Elf Enchanter to 50 solely for Clarity and to fund my dream Warrior. Luckily I am not alone this time as I have a Wood Elf Druid with me. While learning to play this class / duo with a Druid, it would be nice to know if there are any crucial things I should be doing on my way to 50. Thanks for the content.

mostly just learning how to charm fight and hold down multiple mobs. With a partner, it will be much safer. I definitely suggest soloing as well in there to really master the class. The main thing is understanding all the tools at your disposal with an enchanter... which there are a lot lol.

Yeah the class is definitely super strong and it feels like they will be one of the best at camping gear / making platinum at max level to outfit another character. Plus all the groups my future Warrior ends up in will be fully buffed by my Enchanter, making group leveling a lot faster and smoother. I really do think it may be the best class in the game, imo.

Overall a very good and complete guide of the zone. A few mistakes tho i think. First i've been camping solo and duo this about 2 month ago for about a month and i know at least 2 other ench who told me they have been farming in there before me. Not sure if they were doing everything tho. I personnally Soloed everything except the matriarch which i duoed and which is the one who caused me the most trouble; i kinda like your mez technique cause i typically try to stun her and she often resists 3 stuns in a row which leads to a CH and i m basically doomed if it happens twice. So i'll go with your mez tech in the future thx =) Soloed Estrella twice and duoed her once. The key for Estrella is actually dps, the 116/20 mermaid is what you want, i wouldnt go for the named like you did. Only problem you had is you didnt have a torch. Undertow solo/duo around 5/5 times as well. Interesting that you figured out the proper way of doing it. I ve seen many ppl actually clean the whole damn room to get rid of the piranhas which is a loss of time. A few things i noticed: 1) Gloomwater and stalker are the same lvl, i often tend to see the gloomwater being higher but they are druid and tend to cast a little more so i typically go with stalkers. 2) The frenzied bull shark doesnt seem to drop ever the gorget. Killed him around 20 times and he never dropped anything. Also asked a few others who did camp him and they all told me the same. It would be nice if you can confirm you did drop it off the bull and not the cauldron near patriarch. 3) Estrella is a 3days +12h window respawn time which makes her very hard to lock. Cauldronbubble is actually 6h07 if memory serves :p PS: I noticed in your videos you never use pacify which last for 7min which is more than enough to kill basically anything anywhere. You keep using calm or lull and play more around the positionning and clearing while with pacify you dont have to bother about anything. Only problem it's that its draining a whole lot of mana.

I didn't realize they change pacify to have a 7 min timer. before i started up Charmdyu, I took a 6 month+ break from the game. It wasn't that way on blue when i last played. Good tips though. thanks.

Hey! I’ve just started an enc, was wondering if there are any “must” stop at zones to lvl up or do some cash farming? I plan to mostly solo/charm kill.

The cash spots really come more at the end. When you are max level, you can kill rare and dangerous stuff that full groups often don't attempt. This is how you get the really big price tag items to make your money. Soloing while leveling though there are lots of zones I enjoy in classic. Great thing with an enchanter is we can kill stuff anywhere. So, definitely explore. I like Najena in mid 20s, split paw 30s, and guk, kedge, and guards 40s. Those are my favorites to do in classic.

It's tough to make cash until like mid 20s or 30s, places that drop fine steel like castle mistmoore you can go do at like lvl 21 - 22. Sisters camp in lesser faydark drops FS and is probably some of the best cash you can make for your level. If you kill orcs in the commonlands keep the deathfist stashed belts or crushbone belts and pads those sell from anywhere between 3 - 5pp each. Must do zones are Lower Guk, make sure you go with someone who knows where they are going because it is dangerous but at around level 40 you can do the entrance mobs there.

I outfitted my enchanter with some decent gear and all my spell scrolls by farming greater light stones in eruds crossing and bringing them to North Karana gypsy camp for the quest reward. If I remember correctly this was pretty great experience from lvl 10 to 20 and I earned around 8k in 12 hours which is amazing at that level. Some of these figures might be off as i'm going by memory from around a decade ago but I clearly remember this being the best strategy for earning platinum early on. This strategy also doesn't rely on other players purchasing loot from you so it's infinitely repeatable.

you can click the number key that's associated with the spell slot after clicking the spell to quickly memorize it. So, if I want root in the #1 spell slot, I can click the root spell in my spell book and click the 1 key and it will mem it in the top slot.

Came here yesterday. Lvl 37 druid. Calm animal would always fail on the impaler. And everytime i tried to pull one lancer, even with the others calmed, i would aggro 3 or 4. Wonder what i was doing wrong.

you probably missed a couple if you're getting extras while they are calmed. The impaler is probably gonna be a little high for a 37 to calm. I think they are low 40s. Could be wrong though. Keep at it and I'd bet you can get it down to break it. Grab a partner maybe while you figure out hte break.

if you look in the key bind settings, you'll find a toggle between last target key. Set it to what you like and then you can cycle between 2 targets

Why do you use the telescope?

its the only item in game right now that gives a instant global cooldown on your spells. There's a 1.5-2 second delay after casting spells and casting teh telescope right after a spell cancels that delay. In a few weeks, we get the Sol Ro quests that open up which give us a 1 hander Rod of Insidious Glamour. This gives + charisma and does the alliance spell which also resets GCD

just wondering why your'e so afraid of using more then one pet? i have never seen you change pets instead of hoping your pet kills your target mob... the way you do it is if your named... kills your pet... you mez go to other pet charm and before you seek your new pet on named you memblur highest lvl on named it will reset the agro to your new pet instead of yourself.

yes, i do that when it's necessary. It gets dicey usually on teh second pet though and the risk jumps big time. I've done it many times in the past, but usually try and avoid it.. especially on green where mana is very limited.

/tar NAME. use underscores where spaces are needed. so for example /tar a_cauldron_shark will target the closest cauldron shark if it's in range. very useful command for us lol

in the controls menu there is a button for toggle target. I think It's f7 by default. The special targeting commands are very useful to enchanters and other crowd control classes.

if you right click your chat box, you'll see the options to filter the text. You can also set your hit modes i believe it's called. I put ALL to numbers only.
