Efreeti Lord Djarn Solo - Nagafen's Lair Enchanter Dungeon Crawl - Everquest Project99

In today's dungeon crawl, I hit up Nagafen's Lair. This is one of the end game zones in Classic Everquest and home of the dragon boss Nagafen. I haven't crawled this zone in the past and honestly also haven't grouped here much.
In this crawl, I focus on taking down Efreeti Lord Djarn. He's one of the toughest mobs in the game for even an experienced group. As you'll see in the crawl, the toughest part about the mob is getting to him and the room he's a part of.
In the end though, I enjoyed this crawl quite a bit. The dungeon was tough and the fight is quite rewarding.

When you consider the computers and software available to the team that made Everquest they were amazing the quality of the game, the nuisances like ice, weather night and day. Not to mention the wonderful game mechanics. The people who made it and bought it to us in 1999 were geniuses. It was a wonderful game and in many ways it still is the best MMO you really had to think and plan what you were going to do as you were doing in this video because one little mistake and the pain was real. Hours of work lost in an instant. The game made you feel real fear because the stakes were high. I will always be grateful to the Everquest team as no game has ever given me back so many hours of fun.

Man this is my favorite from back in the day. I was on E'ci and with the group that took naggy down as a server first. I was lucky enough to get the Orb of Tishan. You are making me want to do p99

Charm a beetle and paci pull the Royals/BnB. Back on Teal my enchanter made 20-30k a night(4 hours max) bouncing between Nox/Guano/Royals. Super easy and almost no risk. Mithril Bracer. Mithril Breast Plate. GCB, Cloak of Shadows, etc.

The timing of the Efreeti going down with the other mobs engaging you was epic. Still counts!!! Seriously though this is pretty darn impressive at level 50. I solod this as a 60 enchanter and thought that was cool, but this is legit. Make more vids!

I've watched your vids a lot. Some more then once. You've gotten me to start an enchanter on p99. I've found that sometimes losing a lull exp for an awesome item is definitely worth it

@@sinisterfire6641 first off, welcome to the best class haha. And you're definitely right, exp loss isn't a problem for some of these camps. We gain exp back so quick too.

Great video. Brings back memories.; I figured out how to get up there much the same as you did, with invis and Pac. In the room I actually fought in the room and I never had the mob run out that far, in fact I believe I usually killed him inside the room. It has been my experience that low health dispelled running mobs usually have a better chance to be nuked so I may have done that, or I may have just spammed root. I really forget. I only killed him a few times as that was around the time I stopped playing EQ for a while. So I never got rich but I did get some gear for me and an alt, and I also helped camp this with another guildie. Talk about a photo finish! I can't tell you how many times I have looted stuff just as I was wiping, sometimes as a whole guild was wiping. As somebody below said, that still counts as a win. Lol. Databyter

I enjoyed the video, only thing I might suggest is charming a pet prior to pacifying room in the event you get a crit resist you can /pet attack and usually get the mobs to attack your pet and allow you time to CC/Camp.

What's the difference between calm and pacify? Why do you choose to use one over the other, if I can ask?

calm has a 3 minute timer and Pacify has a 7 minute timer

@@robertb7230 pacify used to have a 1-3 minute timer I believe until sometime last year and the admins changed it to 7 minutes to give people a reason to use it haha. It's awesome though. That 7 minutes is crucial for splitting giant rooms.

I really want to do the rod of insidious glamor quest with my enchanter alt but I could not tell by the wiki what level I should be... Any suggestions or is it easier to just buy it?

it's a mid level quest I'm pretty sure. I beleive you can get each piece solo around lvl 30. With a group earlier. They are fairly cheap and will get cheaper as we progress. You'll use one until end game velious pretty much too.

I have a 27 chanter and I'm currently in Mistmoore... I'm not really liking it to much and I don't have great gear. This is on blue so Kunark and Velious are out. Does anyone know a better spot for a chanter to go at that level?

I am not a fan of mistmoore. I think the exp is not great there. Some people really like it. I've never been one of them though. At 27, you can group in unrest or goblins in HHK for good quick reliable exp. There is only 1 camp available though in each and usually lines to join. You could solo in Najena (I have a video about that too which shows where I did it on Charmdyu). Upper guk is also an option. All of those 4 have really good ZEM and hunting spots though.

Do you have some software that makes your cursor increase in size when you wave it around?? I play on 2550x1440 and I constantly lose the cursor dude it’s so annoying

i also lose my cursor all the time lol. I have to drag it quickly to the corner of my screen to find it again haha. I know there is something you can install to make your icon much bigger. I've never done it, but I know a few in my guild use it.

Awesome videos ,, please explain to me the difference between calm and pacify and when is the best time to use one or the other.. and how to you scribe spells directly from the book

three factors... first, mana cost. pacify costs quite a bit more mana than calm. Second factor, how long it lasts. Pacify lasts 7 minutes and calm lasts 3 minutes. Third factor, proximity of aggro. Pacify, you can pretty much stand on top of the mob and not grab aggro (you can still get aggro if too close, but it's really close). Calm, you can get very very close to the mob and not aggro, but if you stand on top, you'll grab aggro. So, calm is effective in most situations unless you need something not to be aggro for longer than 3 minutes. For example, I would rather pacify every 7 minutes in this video for the pathers rather than having to do it every 3minutes. If i'm crawling, I usually calm the static mobs and pacify the pathers.

enchanter, cleric, shaman could do pretty much anything in the game less than raid targets.

oh definitely. druids can be good but no where near what cleric heals and no where near shaman buffs/debuffs. mages don't offer much in the end game compared to the rest. It would also depend on the fight though. There will be some match ups I'm sure a druid would be a better fit.

I highly doubt a bard could pull it off, but I could definitely be wrong. I haven't played much bard at an advanced lvl. I've never seen anyone other than enchanter solo djarn though.

You can do it as a druid, necro, and I've heard mages can as well. Never heard a bard pulling it off, but I wouldn't be surprised. I've seen some crazy stuff by bards.

this is on the green classic server. None of those classes can do this camp solo at this point of the game. Maybe when kunark roles out and they get another 10 levels.

Dunno how you pull these amazing feats off. Charm breaks on me with anything that isnt under 10 levels or so in seconds. And I have 216 buffed Cha. Nice job man!

haha, sometimes it takes a few deaths to get a good one for me. I'm at 255 buffed which helps a lot I feel.
