To all who have responded to this album, I salute you all!! Especially those of you of my generation, who had this in their disc player in 1996. It is a wonderful thing, the metal community, who have never met each other, but have that same connection. Nobody will ever know what it feels like to have that bond like the metal brothers and sisters of my generation. Stand tall and know that no matter what life brings, this community stands together in solidarity! Hail to you all!!!!

I haven't listened to this album in decades. I'd forgotten how much I love it. I purchased Karellian Isthmus, 1,000 lakes, Elegy and Tunella within a few days of their release dates. I still have the CD's in a box filled with thousands of CD's in my storage loft. 😅

It was the year 1996 and my first ever summer festival in Nummirock, Finland. I was there with my friend and my also first ever girlfriend. We had so great time there with Deep Purple, Sepultura, Amorphis... At one point I noticed a spoiled c-cassette on the ground when wandering around that huge area. I picked it up(as an old hoarder 🙄) and read: Amorphis Elegy. When I was back home I meticulously rolled the out-ripped tape and placed it into firm frame. And it sounded so great💜🇫🇮 Later in my life I made friends with Pasi 'Öhe' Koskinen (doing clean vocs here ) when he played and sang in Ajattara. After all this our country Finland is small and packed with great music and artists...

1996 - 1977 = 19. so yes i was 19 at the time too, but my first encounter with the band was in late 1992 with The Karelian Isthmus. 1992 was a great year for metal
@kf3393 Жыл бұрын
@@muncialda3586 Same here! I was 25 when this came out, and that was the year my life's playlist was exactly those bands you mentioned! Elegy (Amorphis), Draconian Times (Paradise Lost), Wolfheart (Moonspell), and even 1993's Turn Loose the Swans (My Dying Bride) were constantly in my CD player! 1996 marked a very bad and depressing year for me, and these albums got me through some very rough times! Even though it was not a good year for me, every time I listen to these albums today, it reminds me not of the hard times I had, but how I had the will to overcome the hardships and moved on to better things!!!
