We hit it off instantly and went on a date 2 weeks later. That very date, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We took things slow, though. We both wanted to take it slow. And we grew as friends while we grew as bf&gf. Now we've been together for 9 years and 8 months total xD He is my best friend, and I'm his. We were very lucky. I know a lot of "not friends first" relationships don't last. But we were just meant to be. And I SOOO relate to what you said about making it official!!! My husband ALSO though I was his girlfriend before ever having asked me! And then it was on that date I mentioned that someone who saw us asked if we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I shook my head bashfully and said no. David (hub) was a little shocked and said something like "we're not?" and I had to TELL him "if you want me to be your girlfriend, you have to ask me." So he asked me right then and there in front of that person LOL ever since then, we've been together. Never even "taken breaks" or anything. We've been inseparable
