I want to do a career/life path/school pressure real talk next since we’ve both gone through our career pivots from what we studied in university to what we do as our jobs 👀 so stay tuned for that IG story to submit questions!!

as someone who's gone through the strict parent experience, talking maturely was not an option and what worked for me was just simply growing up, becoming my own person making my own decisions and I had begun blocking out my parents from the decisions in my life, time and especially body. so boundaries and distance was the solution when it felt like any conflict might have permanently damaged our relationship

Reading your comment felt like a weird out of body experience. I’ve had strict parents too, and we were really close; but last year I’ve started to feel like growing quite distant from them and we have quite a conflictuel relationship nowadays. We are trying to find solutions and trying to talk about it but reading about people having that same experience made me feel better somehow. Thanks !

I was in a toxic relationship for 3 years, when it ended I thought my life crumbled (even though the relationship was mutually abusive). I learnt a lot from that relationship, and swore I’ll be better and never act like that again. So when I met my current partner, I tried to be a better communicator and learnt to love and care for someone (and myself) unconditionally. We’ve been married for a year now and everyone tells us we are the happiest couple. If you just came out of a relationship, don’t give up, something better will come for you:)

@@patronofthearts sorry to keep this going it’s ok if you don’t respond I have a question too. If you ended the relationship ship what finally clicked in your head? I have a friend who’s I’ve a toxic and abusive relationship and they just “celebrated” their 3 year anniversary. Our close circle of friends have seen her brake down multiple times over their breakups and get back togethers. She’s told us she doesn’t love him anymore but she doesn’t know how to live without him... idk sorry lmao we just don’t know what else we can do for her seeing her so hurt
@patronofthearts
@patronofthearts 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kiwikick238 I have friends who are in similar situations, but there is little you can do other than being there for them when they need you (because I can tell you are a good friend). I can’t speak for her, but I can speak from my own experience, hopefully it could provide some insight. Sometimes our perspective gets warped when in an unhealthy relationship long term, for example, when things are difficult, it becomes “a testament for true love”, or romanticize it, like “misunderstood love”. When others objected or criticized the relationship, it made me want to revert to the familiar (the relationship/partner), and would make up excuses for the relationship to try to justify the bond, almost like Stockholm syndrome. What your friend describes sounds like separation anxiety, it’s very scary leaving what you regard as a source of love and care and comfort for 3 years, even if others disagree. Once you lose your perspective, it’s easy imagine dealing with the current unhappiness (familiar), than dealing with the uncertainty, sadness and loneliness which could be long term. I felt it in so many ways, such as the fear of heartbreak, the stress of moving him out, the frustration of searching and dating…I would rather face the arguments every other day, than the doomed prospect that I imagined. The thing is heart break is temporary, the feeling of independence is freeing, and falling in love again is beautiful. To answer your first question, everything clicked but only after it was over, my view was so clouded and probably so is hers. Considering she has a group of amazing friends like you, she sure is worthy of being loved by someone better. She just have to see it, and none of us can make her.

The moments leading up to meeting someone new or starting a conversation can make you feel like ur at the top of the board getting ready to jump, but once you do it you feel great. And every time you do it after it just gets easier and easier. Fellow shy people - outgoing people get scared meeting new people too! We can do it :)))

Definitely agree with the point that we are the product of the 5 closest ppl around us. When I was mentally struggling my circle was very emotionally draining, I knew I didn’t like their energy but stuck to them because I wasn’t connected with myself to recognise I’m choosing to stay in an uncomfortable environment. Now I am filled with warm, kind, genuine people and omg once I started working on myself, like really step away from the drama and understand me and my values, I naturally attracted them and continued to learn and grow with their support :) Moral of the story: spend time understanding yourself especially your past, you owe that to yourself! No one is going to care about you when they have their own mental health to figure out. Go into a relationship being whole don’t go into it thinking someone’s going to complete you.

in my last relationship, my boyfriend was constantly talking about how we never fought or argued or had disagreements. and in my head, that was a good thing. but i’m now realizing that when i think of arguing with your partner, the only thing i can picture is what i grew up around. my parents have never been able to have a calm argument or disagreement. it’s either they hold in all of their feelings, or it turns into a gigantic, loud, overwhelming screaming match where nothing is resolved. and so when he would say that it was upsetting or weird to him that we never did these things, i was confused. i would think to myself “why would you want us to go through that?” but now i understand that arguments and disagreements and talking about your feelings is normal, and can be done in a healthy way. but MY reaction and the way i express myself is a result of how my parents have always treated each other. he never grew up around that, so to him, he just meant that he wanted me to express myself more and be open and honest with him, not just pretend everything is okay so i don’t “cause issues”. it made me realize i really need to change the way i handle and view conflict with others. because conflict and being open about things that bother you is necessary for a healthy relationship. it’s hard but i hope one day i can learn how to properly communicate instead of either being completely silent or completely exploding at the other person.
@vanifarron
@vanifarron 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah same here. I realized that in my last relationship. I entirely avoided setting boundaries or arguing about anything, because I was so afraid of us ever exploding like how my parents did growing up. But in the end, keeping silent is what made things turn wrong. Like the banana man once said, "It's there's an instruction manual on how to talk to people, and everyone has it except me." We both didn't have good role models growing up, so it is difficult to communicate. So it's also up to us to figure out how to break the cycle of toxicity and work towards healthy relationships. ^^

29:33 Fav qualities about each other ✨ This is the cutest part where the nature of female and male are exactly described indirectly. Most men are stable and too calm while most women are sensitive and bring the drama into the house which makes a good balance of life.

Leah, you make me feel at home. Also, I too am an aquarius moon and aquarius rising, an INFP-ENFP. I see myself so much in you.. especially in all those things that Andrew said about you. Love watching you talk and watching you both talk about many real things. Thanks a lot for being real, the energy just gives off.

happy 2 years to you two!!! all of your answers are so thoughtful and sweet. it's very evident that you both genuinely care for the people who asked these questions. you have such a rare gift for being fully honest and authentic even through the screen/editing/etc - you deeply inspire me and i'm so thankful that you're sharing with us in this way :) love you!! and if it wasn't obvious, please make more videos like these because i love hearing you ramble (but i'd love any other video by you too!!)

I love this video so much! You guys seem to be really good to each other and its so lovely to watch. I've been in a almost 6 year relationship and we got together when we were both only 18, and if anyone cares this is what I feel it has taught me the most: 1. Communication is key to fights, intimacy, dreams and goals and staying independent. If you truly love someone, be as nonjudgemental and open as possible- even if their interests and opinions change over time. Yours will probably too and it can be a good thing! Supporting each other is the best

Loved the outdoor setting and when you moved the camera closer! It gives a nice cozy vibe for the different questions. Would love more videos like this like who asked each other out first or when did you guys start having a crush on each other before you guys went out on dates. The types of videos like asking your boyfriend questions girls are too afraid to ask are always interesting or even asking your friends that as a group. I feel like I would prefer 10-20min videos rather than 40min just so it doesn't seem like I'm sitting for 40min lol

i just discovered your channel and honestly… i’m in love. i think i just watched almost all of your videos in one sitting without getting bored or tired and this never happened before so props to u!!!! oh btw LOVE your music taste/the songs you put on the videos are just ✨chef’s kiss✨ (have you ever thought of putting up a public spotify playlist? not sure if you already have one) and the fact you’re VEGAN???? like omg I can’t find one con about watching your videos! one of my favourite things about it is that whenever you do a challenge you always respect yourself and your limits! and that’s sooooooo important! i rarely comment on videos but I just thought you should know there’s someone in brazil who adores you very much! ❤️

This was amazing! I love how open you two are, you give some great advice too! The one about ‘shooting your shot’ resonated with me!! Just over 6 years ago I asked a guy from my high school, that I’d only spoken to at our high-school graduation party, to go and watch a movie with me. Fast forward to now and I’m one week away from giving birth to our first baby, and that boy I asked out is now my fiancé! 🥰 Can’t wait for your next video Leah~~~ 💕
