Very true, I'm dating a Dominican man, and it's about what they can get out of you. I think once he came to my house and saw how I was living, he flipped the script and didn't want to pay for nothing. He compared his apartment to my house and it got real awkward.

I have been in DR for 4 months and every man I have been out with has paid for the 1st and 2nd date. I have been treated to dinner, drinks, and the movies, and even offer to pay for my Uber home. I have never bought a man anything here and make that clear from the beginning in a very sweet but blunt way. If it is a big trip, I understand they do not make much and will offer to go half. Gosh, I even was short at the grocery store, and one of the employees that bags the groceries paid with the change out of his pocket. This is their culture and the women expect it, so why should it be different for you? Last weekend I went out and my Dominican date and he made a joke that "I am a Dominican woman because I do not like to pay." I do not care if they make less money than me. I am a female and if a man approaches me - that means he wants something from me or sees something of value in me. I do not expect anything lavish from these men but how they treat Dominican women, I expect that same treatment too. It is all about the energy you put out.****

@@christinerostrata7460 Mi amor is nothing special in this culture. Literally, everyone says it. I have heard women say it when they are fighting lol. I have even had kids say it to me when they are talking. It's just something they say all the time. It does not mean he loves you.
