It's NOT "less formal" in American English to use "that".

BBC Learning English i think you repeated this episode again . but never mind i'll get lots of informations because that time i saw it, and i got the same informations
@oriana_fortunato4 жыл бұрын
Hi! English teacher popping here just here to say that information is uncountable, so it doesn't inflect for number (you shouldn't write informantionS). You can say: "I got the same information/the same pieces of information". I hope you don't feel offended by this. I can see you are trying to learn so I brought it up in case it helps.

I still have so many questions, what a about WHOM?????? I thought that in sentences like: That is the lady (WHO) I saw eating lunch, the correct relative pronoun would be WHOM, not WHO.
@bbclearningenglish5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lilian! In your sentence: 'This is the lady (who) I saw eating lunch', you can use both 'who' and 'whom'. It would be more formal to say 'whom' but not incorrect to use 'who' (or as you have cleverly done, miss out the pronoun entirely - so well done!). In this episode you learn the basics of relative clauses, but if you watch the next one (episode 12), you will learn the more complicated rules - including WHOM. Here is a link to our website. You can find the episode there and a full explanation and quiz. We hope this helps! www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english/course/tgg/unit-1/session-13
