Cheers. I have written songs that use a mix of fingerpicking strumming....when I recorded them I did it seperately.. HA!! its been a thorn in my side for a while. I am now starting to get better at leaving the goddam pick in my hand and picking/strumming with it. The patterns I come up with are different now.......its better. Thanks for the video. I agree with what you are saying and its made it more concrete in my mind. After work I am going home to work on my new song....which uses a mix of picking with plectrum and strumming...its been a tough nut to crack and I avoided it for a while....NO MORE!!

I recently found your channel, but haven’t found anyone address the problem I deal with yet. Of trying to pick the right string when I’m looking at my chord hand to make sure I’m about to pick the right single note. It’s annoying trying to look back and forth so quickly.

I suggest to get really comfortable with one chord shape at a time. To the point you can fret it with your eyes closed. Then you really only need to look at your picking hand. I most look at picking hand when I am worried about Individual notes.

I like the D 18. I am just a more basic guitar guy. But would need to play each one to decide. Won’t go wrong with either.
