I first drove that road in 1990. It was beautiful then and is now. I had a four speed diesel VW Rabbit that didn't like going much over 50 mph. I drove it slow and I smoked a bunch of cigarettes on the way. Amazing how well I recall that excellent scenery from memory. I loved driving back then, hardly any traffic. I loved smoking too. Gave up tobacco because of the cost and additives they put in. But I think those were far better times. I drove that route again in 1996. I took my brother to Logan Utah from San Diego. Oh we had such a nice time on that road, talked and smoked cigarettes. It was very relaxing and memorable. Unfortunate events and I'll never see my brother again. At times watching this is hard because I recall that trip with my brother so vividly. I wish I could go back in time. In any event, thanks for making and sharing this fantastic video.

If you go out there, many of the lookouts/visitor centers have quotes from the journals of people who yes, were completely overwhelmed by the landscape. There were plenty of field biologists and explorers who had really lovely intentions and respectful interactions with the locals. The people who feel an overwhelming spiritual connection to the land are not usually the murderers. “for two hours I never felt more exultant in my life. The sun shone so bright-and yet it was cool. The air so pure, and I was looking on the most wonderful scenery I ever beheld. " - Ellen Powell Thompson, March 1872 Ellen was a botanist, and her brother was the super-famous John Powell. I don't think she committed any crimes or did anything unethical. There's not enough about her in the historical record, alas, but she later worked for women's suffrage. Though I can't deny the tragedy of how the US handled just about everything with respect to how the land and its people are managed, and we still get it wrong. Utah was actually my favorite place for reading great historical tales at nearly every stop of the white people trying to take the land (usually Mormons) making incredibly dumb decisions that worked out TERRIBLY for them, and also Native Americans who successfully evaded the law/encroachment for a looooong time due to being able to survive in places the newcomers could not. Valley of Fire near Las Vegas had an incredible story like that, this Paiute (I think?) outlaw basically just used heat as a hiding place and was able to outrun the law over and over, and this was I think in the 1920s or 30s, well after the "wild west" days. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in a visitor center museum.

The way how the road grips to the landscape and acts like it’s been there thousands of years. The pristine nature of the land, the vastness and overwhelming sense of place. Can’t believe these roads were built 100 years ago yet they look so marvelous and well kept. Thanks to Utah department of transportation.

Nice! I have driven this road so many times over a span of 27 years en route to the trailheads of my favorite wilderness canyons. A windshield view can't possibly convey the eye-tugging 360 degrees of outrageous scenery up on the "skyway" section, nor can it capture even a glimpse of the sweeping views of the Circle Cliffs and Capitol Reef and the Henry Mountains from the shoulder of the lush subalpine Aquarius Plateau. It would take 3d IMAX to even come close! But for the very best scenery, you'll have to go there, strap on a pack and walk/wade into the wild backcountry.

I have to write this out of me. So, my parents never had a car, but my grandfather had one, so it was still possible to make some family travels when I was a kid and a teen. We visited several medieval castles in the country, just the five of us, my sis, my parents, and granddad. There is a beautiful little village called Szögliget near to the north border of my country, Hungary. It has a castle ruin on a peak, above the valley of the village, that has one of the most beautiful panoramas I ever witnessed. The ruin is called Szádvár. That place is part of my childhood. I remember that we always stopped to have a break and ice cream halfway on it's way, in another lovely place, Perkupa. I remember we used to stop at a specific point of the forest we travelled through, to looking for mushrooms. I remember how we arrived at Szalamandra-house, which is a small hostel or tourist house right at the bottom of the mount of Szádvár. In an absolutely beautiful, welcoming scenery. I remember that every summer, when we went there, the first day he, around being 70, still walked up with us to visit the castle and enjoying the view. Having time with us. He never slowed us down. He was always full of energy. He left us forever a couple of days ago. And I don't mourn him because of how I don't think about death as an end, but as a milestone. But I mourn what also left us with him. A part of my childhood of course, the peace, being a family with no troubles to think about, doing what we loved, visiting the countryside...

I just can say thank you, I am going through some hard months in this pandemic, everyday started to feel the same. Work at home and the fact that it's not so safe to step outside have me feeling so captive. I found these videos and I just can thank you and the other channels that creat this kind of content. The music, the sounds of nature, the motion. It just made me feel I was outside, almost feeling the air. Some tears actually came out. Although maybe artificially, you guys actually took me out of these walls and made me appreciate and realize how much I love nature and our world. I hope someday I can live near beautiful places like these and visit them safely (not always able to do so in my country). Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'll always try to set these videos in my TV as a background during my routine to remind me of that.

@Adrian we want to see Turkey join to EU but this will not. EU peoples don't want to this. Turkey is following a way it's dangerous islamist leader like Erdogan. An Islamic State like turkey does not belong to European Union. So I want to escape from Turkey and to US.

Several years ago I drove to Utah from Texas. One of my favorite trips. The great farm lands of the Texas panhandle , the cattle country of eastern New Mexico, the incredible Shiprock mountain in Northwest New Mexico, the beautiful mesas of southern Colorado then into Utah and the sky island like distant mountains and the stunning desert landscape.
