Totally out of the blue camp, I had nothing planned whatsoever, Sunday around 6pm I decided to book a campsite for the next evening and off I went.. Such a lovely campsite and I got to use my new induction hob for the first time.. Spoiler, it was ace...

This was a really cosy video, beautiful moody scenery also, we want to visit the North of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 now. It was busy for a Monday, must be so nice to go camping on grass and not get the inside of van totally gross. In Sweden we have granite gravel spread everywhere during the vinter months (for traction on ice) but it makes your van inside and mats look like a quarry pit when you winter camp.

Lovely place kettlewell, I went to watch the Tour de France there a few years ago and remember going up Park Rash in a 39 x 23 bottom gear which was a laugh. I need to train my 3 black labs to sit patiently like Branson when I open the van door as usually they make a bolt for it as soon as the door starts moving 😅

Stayed on that site a couple of years ago when the world champs cycling went through Kettlewell. Think it rained everyday but no complaints about the site and I love the area. Perfect for cycling.

Fantastic video Colin, Kettlewell is a stones throw away from where I grew up and I now have the pleasure of working for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. There are so many beautiful places in the Dales! - When's your next meet up? I could chat for hours about vans + camping! I have a self conversion Sprinter 4x4 myself, not finished yet, however!! - Branston is so cute, would love if he was at the meet up?? We have two black Labs!

weve got a little vango sizzle hob which works great on the big power bank thingy. Yours looks a bit bigger so I think it might manage a larger pan than the Vango does.

Induction burners are much more efficient so you cook with much less power. Try and keep it at under 25% until you get a feel for it so your eggs don’t look like they are char grilled on the fire.. lol

I really love your videos, Colin. They have such an amazing vibe and I look forward to every one. My van is now finished and ready for bimbles but I find myself at a sort of crossroads. I'd love to bimble out in her and I know she would be amazing but I'm totally anxious and apprehensive about going out in the van on my own. I'm literally now questioning if I did the right thing getting the Vivaro and spending money I couldn't afford on getting her perfect and now its in my head to forget it and just sell her. I wonder if anyone else who did their van feels this way. sorry to put a downer on it. I do love the uplift your videos give to us all and apologise if I ruined things.

Don't think of it as a possession which depreciates in value, think of it as a portal to adventure and excitement. Your effort and energy into crafting your van will be more than compensated with the memories created from using it.

@@carlnewton7591 I wasnt thinking of depreciation Carl.More along the lines of why I did a van and was so enthusiastic about it being finished and now I dont feel confident enough in going away in it on my own. I follow a lot of really good people on vanlife and Colin and the guys make it look so easy.Like its so easy to go away solo. I wish I had their confidence.

It’s natural to feel apprehensive, we did. Just start slowly, do a couple of day trips then a few local overnights until you feel more relaxed. The confidence will come you just have to give yourself time 😊

Ah mate, I'm sorry to hear this. Do what ever you feel is right for you. Ask yourself the question, what would you feel like if you didn't have the van? and take things from there... If you truly feel you'd be better off without it, sell it and move on. I became happier when I stopped "chasing happy" ;)

Nice video, thak you. What made you buy an induction hob. They are more expensive than a single elctric hob and you have to have ferrus metal pans for the magnet aspect to work. Looks nice though We use an electric hob, £19.00.

Cheers bud... It's just another cooking option in the van and it was cheap as! Most of our pans work on them so it saves using gas (free electric from the sun tempted my Yorkshire wallet 😂)

Hey buddy, so many options to answer this 😂😂! We will probably get a bigger van in a few years (mainly for holidays rather than every day) - size of van depends how you'll use it. I use mine like a car so the smaller the better, a larger van as a daily driver would cost more to run and wouldn't fit in to the small spaces and car parks I'd need it to when photographing clients (weddings etc) Hope this helps
