It’s my understanding that burnishing closes the pores of the wood, as well as brings the fibers very close together. Your piece may not pick up much oil after that! Love your carving!

So relaxing to listen to… How do you control your knife so well and get it to stop at those straight line points?

I’m glad you enjoying listening to the sounds. Doing stop cuts prevents the wood being cut beyond that point.
