I love that you made it a Maine coon cat. Nikita was one of the great loves of my life. I would like to believe 100% that I will get to see my animals again after this life and that I will get to see them in their bodies. I can support some of that with science and the rest just with fervent desire🙏🏽💚🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾💚

Aww, I love that-- my parents adopted a Maine Coon cat just at the tail end of the 70s so I thought about her. Such a sweet, fluffy breed. And you will, I firmly believe they may be the first ones waiting to greet us.

Hi Michelle, I’m cheating listening a little early in the evening, but I’ll listen at bedtime too. I was in my first year of college in 1976. I often long for that time again minus internet,cell phones, and of course great music. Thank you for this breath of fresh air and nostalgia. ❤😊

Thanks for the do over. I couldn’t have created that dreamscape of 76 by myself. It was a horrid time for that version of me. Thanks for converting my firebird into a manual shift convertible. I preferred “ little queen” by heart but that came out a year later. I heard it anyway. It was a culturally rich time. You captured little slices of it and reliving it through your eyes was sweet. Second city tv show was after snl. It was equally as good.

What a great time-- since it was June I'm sure we were out of the live season but I wanted to add that bit. While not alive, so much of that time's influence spilled over in how I was raised and my parents' proclivities. Glad you could relive in a different way. I imagine if I tackle the early 90s in a story it will be a time for me to reimagine those years for myself.

@@MichellesSanctuary It’s a matter of your point of reference. We get caught up in different things at points in our lives. Because you are a story teller and a good one you can make a compelling story out of fart joke. As your parents describe their era you internalize it like I internalized my parents but I don’t relate to the 20’s through the 40’s. You can and you do. You instill fragments that contain enough color and essence as to be real. There weren’t too many knobs in that firebird but it doesn’t matter you describe the thing enough to evoke an image. Unless the audience doesn’t know from the car. The disco scene, you described it just without it’s tawdry desperation and misogynistic culture. It was a meat market. It’s that lense you perfectly use. It is the pinnacle of your contribution to us. You’re an old soul, transcending a long time across many stories and histories. I’m skating in this story. If I tried to skate I would kill myself myself or at the least paralyze myself. Yet here I’m skating. I have avoided thinking about 76 for years. With this I was allowed to peak at it and see that there was more then trauma there was some joy too.

@@larrymarcus3176 I figure that it's a safe place for all of us to skate. I certainly get scared enough when I skate around my apartment-- those four wheels can get a mind of their own on a sharp turn. It's funny you mention the knobs in the Firebird because as a child being in one there were SO many knobs. Everything was tactile to me-- since cars now have buttons instead. Not the levers that click for the heat or radio tuning, or even the old lighters that were in cars. They were pure terrifying magic to a 3-year-old. I had the misfortune of acting a few too many disco scenes and big productions as my love for the 70s often got me booked in those roles. I far prefer my lens. Carefree, empowering fun.
@larrymarcus3176

@@MichellesSanctuary Silly question: why are you skating in your apt? Doesn’t this really annoy your neighbors your floors and your pets. You have taken me places I’ll never really visit but can through my imagination. I feel safe there which is remarkable. I love how you use your lens and reframe things. I try very diligently to do this now. It is very helpful as it really stems a missing bridge in cognitive therapy. My disco days were more seedy darker and frankly I was embarrassed by my genders treatment and perspective of women. Misogyny and sexism as well as discrimination was very common in those years. But so was enlightenment, new cultural mores and the evolution of women’s rights, equal rights etc. So I mentioned it but allowed for the reframing so it was fun and empowering and carefree. So I can skate, I can effectively do the hustle and not get a migraine from a strobe light. ( one of my bands used one but it made me so violently sick I made them direct the bulb into the audience and limit it to only the sets we played psychedelic music) My firebird was spartan it was a 69 and sadly it needed work that was too expensive so I sold it in 75 and bought a Camaro which was equally spartan. The 76 firebird had a model that was more luxurious meaning it had power windows and maybe a take deck with better carpet and seats. I don’t think they had a rag top convertible but a tee top like the vette with roof panels that popped out. But I could be wrong. If you want lots of knobs and switches any luxury car from caddy to imperial to town car had em. But the pony cars mostly were for their cool looks their motors and their sex appeal. My current car still has a lighter in it. It was one of the last to have one. Damn I’m awfully wordy, I apologize. Go skate on wear a helmet though

Some of us who listen to you still can’t sleep but you entertain comfort and relaxers while we’re laying there and then I wake up many times in the night and if I have one of your playlists going you’re always there because when I wake up often my blood has a lot of cortisol and adrenaline and it’s not so much in the middle of the night more so in the morning. I’m really hoping that you’re giving serious consideration to making some recordings for those of us who have a hardest time in the morning some of us have to stay In bed and others of us want to. Some of us don’t like the sun we prefer the rain and the moon. I bet you could soothe and comfort a lot of us into our day whether we were going to get up or stay in bed. I, for one, would really appreciate it more than I can adequately articulate.

I think this sleep story is great for those who still remember that period of time but it means much less to those of us who weren’t even born, or who were only very young, back then. Personally I found the music references meant little to me and that the whole roller skating scene - what with its crowds, loud music, garish clothes, glitter balls and strobe lighting - was just the opposite of relaxing and far too busy and loud to promote a peaceful night’s sleep. Of course you can never please everyone, but I was a little taken aback. Because I can honestly say this is the first sleep story of yours that I haven’t found relaxing, and I’ve been listening every night for years!

I appreciate the feedback. As someone who also wasn’t born in this time or any of the historical eras I’ve covered. I also always tend to have a pretty full description so if there are things that don’t seem soothing to you, definitely feel free to skip it. I get such an overwhelming amount of feedback and requests it’s really hard for me to hit them all every time. I like to this of this as a library where you all get to come and self-select the stories that you feel will resonate with you and skip the ones that don’t.

I stayed awake for it on purpose tonight (which is difficult lol). I LOVED it! and interestingly enough, I've been working on singing some songs at some local open mic nights and you mentioned a few artists that I've been studying. The 70's is my least known musical decade so I don't always get excited about it, but this absolutely got me excited! Music is a big healer and really helps me take the linear path backward through time. It connects lots of dots for me during shadow work which in turn helps me offer light work more clearly. I could visualize it all so well with vibrant colors! More-so than usual for me so thank you again! You have a gift that has been an incredible tool for my healing over the last year. I know one day I will have the financial stability to donate to you for all you do for you listeners. Ok I sound like a stalker now 🤣Oh and one last thing, My old cat who I miss very much is a long haired Maine Coon named Lucifer (Loui, Lou Lou, King Loui) and so that fit right in with the cat I was visualizing already. Thankfully my big orange, flat-eared fluffball is still alive, but he lives in a different state now. I hope I see him soon! Ok I think I'm done now! Damn that was like a public journal LOL!

I can not wait for this. I graduated from High School in 1976. Everything was red, white & blue for the bicentennial. Including our tassels. ♥️🤍💙

What made you choose the year I was in the womb? And the boardwalk? My dad passed away and I'll be up there for the memorial next week. I'm. Not. Ready.

Jill, you were conceived-carried-raised absorbing musical energy with emotional vibes incomparable to our present 21st century. Music was generally just plain inspirational (socially redeeming and beneficial) between Beethoven and Motown; the Romantic Period to Post-WWII / Human Rights eras. We’re in a humanities valley at present.
