What are names of these seedier parts of San Diego? I wasn't aware of them. Last visited S.D. in 2014. Never ran into them. I rode on a solo Pacific coast bike tour from Vancouver, BC to San Diego. Took me 2.5 months and 2,300 miles. I celebrated in Little Italy arriving in the evening. I never (luckily) rode through any risky sections of the city.

Long ago in the 90s I took a drive late at night on El Cajon blvd. in San Diego. Up around San Diego State University and before it and after it I saw a lot of flashily dressed women with heavy makeup.. There were no office buildings open at that hour. So I knew they weren’t office workers. But I saw a lot of cars pulling up next to them. Some of the women got in those cars. Then they went somewhere. I resisted any thoughts of pulling up next to any of those women. Some of them must have walked a lot. At least it was cool at night so they would not get overheated.
